In the messages, she was civil and he pretended to be okay with this decision. When he attempted to rekindle, she rejected him. He correctly assumed that her family encouraged her to leave, and this motivated him to kill her mother and sister.
Investigators found he was on dating apps and had affairs while he was with her, one woman even happened to call him when he was committing the murders but he did not pick up. The days before the killings, he researched her parents' activity, the weather, purchased a crossbow, cocking device, bolts, a butcher's knife, rope, petrol cans, duct tape and an air pistol, viewed Andrew Tate videos as well as pornography, including one video of a female officer who was jailed for having sex with a prisoner, which was apparently a controversy in the UK. He is not the only killer in his family, his brother is also in prison for murder.
He deceived the mother by saying he will come over to give her daughter's belongings, specifically picking a time when the father would not be home. She was compassionate towards this scumbag, telling him to seek relationship guidance moments before he stabbed her to death. When his ex entered the house, he restrained, raped and killed her with the crossbow. Once the sister arrived, she was able to text her partner to call the police, she also called 999 but Clifford shot her fatally and fled.
He tried to commit suicide with the crossbow when he got caught but did not die. He became paralyzed and had to be hospitalized for 10 weeks. He admitted to all charges besides rape but forensic evidence showed otherwise, so he was prosecuted for everything. He shows no genuine remorse for the murders, only has pity for himself.
They found a note on his phone, directed at his family: “Please don’t think of this as me throwing my life away. I have lived and I am grateful for everything and everyone that has been a part of it. It is now my time to leave and be at peace as this is what I ultimately want. I know you will all have so many questions and wish you could have done something different to prevent this however none of you have failed and there is simply nothing any of you could have done. This is my decision to just be at peace. You all have to take care of each other and speak to each other because that will be the best thing for you all. I love you all so much.”
