This is the reason they hate DEI right now, because they are afraid they are not good enough and that minorities (women) will do the job better. Women have had to work harder to be in these spaces, and as a result they are usually better at the jobs than the men. They got rid of DEI so they can discriminate without consequences. I know there is a trans aspect to DEI too, so I am torn on that part, but women actually have to work harder to be given a job over a man. It means they are actually competent and usually more skilled. Usually way more so than the men, because if she were equally competent and skilled, the man would get the job by default, even if he is not a white man.

At the latest company she worked at, she was stuck in an "assistant" role as some kind of weird proto-secretary to the guy she worked under. Despite her dedication to the job and all of her bosses speaking very highly of her, she was stuck in that role for five years. It got to a point where after some layoffs she was doing the work of 2-3 different people and they were planning on piling more work on her until she threatened to resign.

After putting her boss's balls in a blender (a fellow woman, btw!!!) she finally got approval for a new job title this week, but it came with zero pay increase because muh economy. She was talking to another company about getting a job there and it was about to go through, but they suddenly texted her at 6pm last night to tell her the offer is rescinded. She's been stuck at like $104,000/yr for the last five years and every time she tries to advance she just gets shut down. It's really frustrating to see. Meanwhile all the men in the C-Suite who do literally nothing are getting approved for pay raises year after year without having to fight it for months. If it weren't for her multiple projects nobody else was willing to do would have fallen through. I don't understand it.
