Do any of you ladies ever feel as if you aren't allowed within male dominated spaces or hobbies without feeling like a poser, even if you've been in the hobby space for long/arent planning on being a tourist?

I've noticed a recent shift in online communities I frequent, which are mostly male dominated (Comics, TTRPG, Manga, Paintball, LARP etc). I don't go in professing myself as a woman, because I'm not a faggot or tranny looking for attention, but sometimes when I see the discussion of topics relating to women I jump in and try to give my view on it as it relates to my gender. It's not often, but most times I feel as if there's a shfit when people I used to genuinely have deep and interesting discussions with all a sudden act as if I'm some kind of poser or attention seeking harlot tourist and act as if we havent been interacting for 6 plus months and just chilling out.

I feel like sometimes, even in this era where "acceptence and equality" is the norm, that I can't even partake in my interests without having to hide my identity. I do it anyways, but it still makes me feel a sense of unease and contempt towards men. Especially when they become condescending or isolate me after the fact. Used to be a big conversation leader and participant in a group chat I was in for 4 years. Found out I was a woman, kicked me from the chat and never spoke to me again.

Yes, too many instances to list. I used to play videogames with others online a lot more than I currently do and I would just pretend I was a man. If they found out I was a woman, most of the time they would start treating me weird or trying to yell and scream and bother me until I left.

BTW, you also don't have to prove your worth any more than anyone else in a "space" just bc you're a woman. Guarantee that - unless you're trying to be in a skill level you haven't reached - there are a billion others who are exactly where you are and probably some even less "accomplished" (whatever that means for the "space").

And it's up to you, but I would never actively pretend to be a man just bc wherever I am is mostly men. Get it if the likelihood of harassment is higher than you want and you don't feel confident you have the tools (or energy) to deal with it. But other than that, imo/ime I just go in and engage, neither announcing nor denying I'm a woman if it's not relevant to the activity. In person, online, professional, hobby, whatever. If it is not explicitly a single-sex activity, then it is not.

Why are men so incapable of viewing anything artistic without it inevitably going back to porn. I've had so many personal experiences with men being just gross with art, ignoring all the stuff you see on the internet anytime there's artwork posted of something even vaguely feminine as there will always be men expressing their need to have sex with it. I do art as a hobby, and I used to send it to my male friends, but I've since stopped almost completely as any artwork that wasn't of a hot girl, they'd barely say anything, and if it was anything that remotely resembled a girl, they'd immediately act horny regardless of if I intended it to be sexual.

It's just so depressing. The worst experience I've had was back in school.
