Men don’t need to request the same; I live in a mid sized city, and every single time that I’ve called for an Uber, it’s been a male driver.
I know someone that has gotten a woman driver ONCE. And that was when they scheduled a trip months in advance, to be dropped off at the airport.
I actually was hanging out with some friends where we got drunk at a bar over last weekend, and it was 25 minutes away from my house. I called for an Uber to bring me home at 11:30pm, because it would have been cheaper than a taxi.
The strung out looking white guy that picked me up in his lifted F150, with his pit bull puppy in the front seat, talked to me for the entire drive about my relationship status, and if I had had any flirtation with my guy friends at the bar that night. And then when he dropped me off, he called me “baby” as I got out of the backseat of his truck. And I didn’t say anything about it, because I’m a smaller woman alone, and didn’t know what the man might do. And I only took the ride because I didn’t have a lot of options.

I would have considered requesting a female driver if I would have been able to.
My only real complaint about it would be what Uber would consider a “woman”.

It's weird because in the same breath they will claim that people who play those games aren't into real life children or rape. I've only used Uber/Lyft/Whatever these services are called exactly ONE time and it when I got plastered downtown with friends.
The three of us piled into the backseat, and it was probably a 10 minute drive where our certified expert pilot managed to output a 3 to 1 ratio of terror by being the most generic creepy brown migrant mushmouth taxi driver type imaginable. I'd ask for more average user experiences here since I never have to rely on these services, but I'm gonna guess it's mostly like that.

I'm in the middle of reading Takedown by Laila Mickelwait, about the Traffickinghub movement and how they got PH to remove 80% of their content on the site. It probably would trigger some people on here because they used payment providers to do it, and I'm certain the movement must have served as a model for recent events on Steam. The author is a wishy-washy libfem (she takes a chapter at the beginning to emphasize how she's not anti-porn and is super sex positive you guys), but her information is really interesting.

PH has links to eastern European organized crime and its leaders hide their identities and use false names like criminals. They don't really have a way of verifying that user-uploaded content isn't illegal, and they don't care. They knowingly profit off of videos which they are aware contain rape and child sexual abuse, because those videos being on the site helps them with search engine optimization. I'm not done reading, but I'm sure it gets worse.
