Reminds me of a high school history teacher I had who was talking about his wife and insisted to us that marriage is a contract and he only married his wife because it benefited them both in a logical transaction. And to take stuff like love and attraction out of the equation because it's irrelevant, just view it methodically and analytically.

While it's absolutely good advice to tell dumb teenagers that a partner might not be good for you in the long haul just because they're hot and you think you're in love, and to not do anything stupid (follow your high school bf to a shitty college instead of a good school where you'll be apart, marry a guy with $300k in debt because love conquers all, be someone's fourth baby mama) it would absolutely eviscerate me to know that my husband and father of my children didn't marry me because he wanted to marry a beautiful woman he was in love with, I just checked a majority of his boxes and he could see tolerating me for the long haul. Recently my friend told me and a few friends (Which some are guys and she and I are girls.)
