This comment has nothing to do with the part of mine you quoted. But pedantry aside,

1) not asking for special treatment (nor do I/ should I/women have to "ask" for anything, but whatever). Victim testimony (all testimony) is evidence. Period. It may be considered alongside all other evidence and weighed as appropriate. That problem is that historically, women's testimony has been completely discounted, at the charging, prosecution, and trial stages.

2) The legal system, and precedent, is not static, nor should it be. A hallmark of a robust rule of law is that as better information is developed, systems adapt. 54 years ago there was no RICO statute. Prosecution of organized crime was hampered for most of the 20th century for lack of adequate articulation of group organized crime. That needed to change and it did - and has been further refined by caselaw. That's how it works - or should. And I'm locating my comments in the US judicial system. Your country has the worst record for fair trials in all of Europe, so you may or may not have an accurate perspective on accuseds' actual experience in US courts.
