there is basically no rules right now, I would suggest picking up a book in whatever department your in reading the basics. then proceeded to do whatever you want to explore the mechanics [Barring randomly murdering people while not being antag]. the french have a saying to become a blacksmith you must forge, be whatever interest you and don't sweat fucking up a round or two

that is the noobie role, but i would suggest jump straight into a role as this is a new server and the early chaos will mask your growing pains

I'll try that, based quadposter, I already manged to die by the most insane ways multiple occasions just in the first 3 games I had so far. I have no idea what's happening so far, people run around and then everything goes to shit. Art Imitates Life i guess.

Figured out how to smoke cigaret and cook a cheese sandwich with some help, pretty fun game :)
Then I went deaf from a rocket explosion and some wizard killed me as a collateral while going after the chief, but that's SS13 for you I guess

Being the exceptional individual I am, I've been playing for days without antag roles enabled. So maybe tomorrow you'll all get to enjoy a wild gimmick antag. I just have to figure out which of the most fun ways to ruin the station haven't been destroyed by Oranges yet.

edit: @Null is it possible to put replica pod seeds in the hacked sale list of the seed vendor? I think it would improve rounds a lot as a stopgap. There's sometimes a problem with people dying or being crippled by Baymed and not having anyone online playing doctor who knows how to fix them.

Mostly fixing medical and research. That's a lot of work though. I'd really like to but I dunno how to like, drum up a player base for the server. I'd really like 50 consistent players but I realize that's probably a big ask considering for ss13.

Do something related to the election and it will cause the media to report on the site and ask for comments, and you can reply with an ad for your ss13 server. Boom you'll have more players than you know what to do with

Well, my first game I tried to write a book about Russell Greer, couldn’t make the bookbinder work, and then was poisoned by a clown and watched him fire me out an airlock.

Once I figure out the interface, J‘m up for trying again tomorrow.

Are the books persistent? There were a couple in the electronic access earlier today. One wss the navy seal copypasta

Yes they are! They're stored in a database on the server.

Display case contents are persistent too, as are photos in photo books.

You're in luck! If you have a midi of a song I have an old program called midi2piano that converts it to ingame notes. I believe I originally got this from the tgstation github or wiki, I forget which. It works pretty well.

edit: I found it on the github. Download it from here instead
