Nice to hear Bay's playerbase hasn't changed even after all these years. Heavy RP with people who are bad at both roleplaying and the game, with a badmin team who will ban you if you try to do anything interesting even as an antagonist.
it's insane how completely retarded they are, my first and last time playing an actual baystation server i was permanently banned because i picked up an emag and opened a door for a room i didn't even end up walking into

Shame how relatively fucking dead it is i this thread because of what SS13 has become. There's no hope for SS14 (I remember when the fuckers banned Cargonia) and I haven't heard anything about Unitystation in ages. Is there any hope for anything related to SS13 that isn't Barotrauma?
 
I'll keep tabs on this thread for the next event. I too crave SS13 like I did in the 2010's up until 2019 when it all went downhill very quickly. Of course the best moments always involved 50+ people on /tg/ or /vg/station back then, at least in my eyes due to the sheer chaos of it all.
Nothing worse than a trial janny giving you shit over a name and persona (Captain who spoke of himself in third person as a caveman) that you've been using here and there for almost a decade on the server, just to be punished because of arbitrary change in rules

They've dumbed down Medical and Research. The tasers now have a retarded stun meter so criminals can run around ad infinitum.

Wdym. R&D and medbay (compared to 2019 TG medbay) has received more content, not less. TG's med has always been unrealistic numbers that make no sense.

Oh, also your internal organs die if you smoke too much or eat a bit of unprepared food for no reason.

Nah, organs self-heal damage so the effects are pretty much just cosmetic afaik, unless you do something ridiculous.

Ddeploying a syndicate mech in a space station full of civilians should end with it killing everyone. You shouldn't walk off after taking a buckshot to the face. Antags should be able to easily dispose of the crew and a assistant with a glass spear should not be able to down a changeling.
We both know the "civilians" are not. Half of everyone's posts here are about doing things that the average coomsumer civilian wouldn't be able to do. That's the magic of SS13. It's sensible in IC too, remember these are *astronaut-grade* civilians, not couch potatoes.

Otoh. Syndicate mechs can already do much of what you're saying, kill everyone - until they run out of ammo. Hell, a regular station mech on TG can kill pretty much an infinite number of people without purpose built weapons (say, lasers or EMPs).
SS13 mechs are also not much bigger then your average car, so realistically probably shouldn't be that *that* much more dangerous then just a dude on PCP with an AR-15, and are *much* slower then the latter. Really, mechs are just body armor ++ that takes all the hits so the person inside doesn't, like of like a up-armored Segway with a gun welded to it.

If you literally die as a changeling to a glass spear then that's a fucking skill issue and the only way to fix it is to implement snowflake code that everyone else in this thread would probably hate.

Mechs OTOH have become a lot more powerful in the last few years of TG anyway.
Now antag lasers leave 2nd degree burns so "you have a fair fighting chance".

Not sure what you mean here. On TG, a basic laser does 25 damage - the cap's laser does 30. So, killing you in 4 shots. The burn wounds don't replace damage - they complement it. If you don't die from burn damage you die from burn + toxin damage + your affected limb effectively breaks. AKA you have LESS chance compared to previous balance. Antag ballistics usually do around 30 - 60 brute damage and cause bleeding wounds, with antag e-swords dealing massive bleed wounds that usually give you a fatal amount of blood loss in under a minute.

Also as far as SS14 goes, it simply isint ready for colonization, even though they have lots of fun stuff like uploadable MIDIs for instruments they don't even have surgery yet after all this time.

You can easily make a fork that removes the random connection messages.
You know, the launcher being gay is not the main issue. The problem is they control the hub and force their rules on every server that wants to be visible to normal lanchers. You need to start up your own whole parallel infrastructure in order to compete, all efforts to do so so far have failed due to the lead devs deliberately sabotaging that due to the people attempting that being gullible morons and trusting them in one way or another.

The second biggest issue is the entire code base is a massive pile of troon piss and its no wonder they are even further from feature parity than my ss13 fork from 2015.

The launcher on their engine website is good.

Also, with your name, you should be interested that the person making SS14 CM, Javier Guardia Fernandez aka DrSmugleaf, operator of xenomorph.gay, famously justified their choice to put "zoophilia - yes" in https://archive.is/Y4K1M by saying that zoophilia referred to the xenomorph, which he wanted to fuck and/or be (it's unclear but leaning towards the latter going off the flist. remember troon object of desire inversion). He then started working on Colonial Marines for SS14. The last attempt failed because the last dev quit over the tranny dev hub bullying and witchhunting him.

For the first CM playtest yesterday they spawned themselves in as queen and did weird mommy roleplay in hivechat, subjecting dozens of players, including many children, to his fetish roleplay.
