Official Space Station 13 Server

While joining the server anytime is good, for starting out I wonder if we could advertise a "game night" time when we'll have some veterans on hand to show new people the ropes and admins to maintain (a desired minimum of) order, or throw in interesting events, to get some of the fresh blood comfortable with the game.

They should, though I'm not certain where the list of books is kept, or if there's a default or universal starting set. I know in TG and most other TG based codes (Fulpstation for example) there are ways to write, bind, and upload your own books into the library that will then continue to appear in the library in future rounds, and I think TG and Fulpstation's lists of books were different, so they might be server or individual SQL database specific, or something. Kiwi Station 13 might have to write its own set of library books and if so, holy fuck I dread seeing what that ends up like. I'd like to think it'd just be transcripts of Sonichu comics and Linkara's novellas and other dorky cringe shit, but I know better. That might have to be moderated if people try to abuse it too hard.

While I am a newb, I've been having a lot of fun. Met some cool people, most are quite helpful and there are a good amount of other newbs around too. Thoroughly enjoying things so far, I hope it continues. I would like to eventually master all the jobs so I can also run around creating unsurpassed chaos. For now though I'll just keep letting the doctors replace my hands with metal or turn me into a robot.

Looks fun, I'll give it a spin.

A long learning curve is usually the sign of a decent game, so the way it sounds with the numerous professions make it seem fun.

I am however shit at gaming, unless it's RTS. Apologies in advance.

Don't worry too much about it. You can pick assistant and their job is literally to do whatever they want, basically. If someone asks you to do something just say "sorry I'm new how do I do that?" and if they're cool they'll probably explain or do it for you. Not knowing what to do won't ruin the game for anyone else as long as you're not intentionally picking important jobs then fucking it up badly. I just started a few days ago and have had lots of help from some surprisingly friendly people on the server. I'd say now is a good time to join simply because there are already a good number of newbs around.

First order of business is making Box the default station until we start getting 25 players per game. The trannies totally replaced Box with Ice Box but Ice is objectively fucking worse as a map. I don't understand the logic and I'm not sure there is any.

I know you said you're removing pubby, but might be worth keeping it till you get box back. Ice box is objectively the shittest map.
 
Since we're trending smaller pops right now, should the smaller stations like MiniStation go into the rotation?
Actually, does MiniStation even fucking work anymore? It had a Thermo Electric Generator ala Goon, but I dunno if it functions the same.

It's not a learning curve, it's a wall.

Nonetheless I had the chance to play a few days ago and had around 100-120 ping, server chokes on round starts but after that gets moderately stable. Definitely will hop on later now that the shitters are gone and hopefully start learning anew more beyond slipping over my own wet tiles as jannie and failing to help bandaging up a roboticist who saw his own head open.

Thanks Null for bringing me back on SS13 after so many years.

I'm waaaay more familiar with Goonstation code from like 5-6 years ago, think it was before it got hacked/leaked. Remember managing to figure out some of the super secret chems like initro and such, are prions a thing on TG?

This may be a dealbreaker, also can I suplex people with the *flip command?
 
it was a shock going from being very familiar with bee station to being back at square one for kiwi station, i hope i can adapt, will have to gib some crypto for the experience

Bee isn't too different. They kept old /tg/ medical (which would be neat to port) and a lot of other older features, but it's the same code more or less.
