It's a shame this thread died the OSRS community is like a black hole of autism.

SirPugger is single handedly keeping all bots BTFOD.

I'm reviving this thread with autism and updates. Jagex actually did a GOOD move and basically wiped out all green dragon bots and other wilderness bots by making a system of keys that drop for PKing that had effective ended the most popular form of bot farming in OSRS.

In other news, I found this on the subreddit in response to Jagex increasing membership pricing by 25%

Note: while the increase is $1.50 for Americans for Canadians and Aussies its about $3-4 which is a BIG difference.

Said post was independently confirmed to be True by Jmods. Firstly, I should stress:

Jagex 2019/2020 Financial Report Analysis: In 2019 and 2020, >50% of every dollar spent on membership went directly to Jagex's ownership, rather than being spent on maintaining or improving the game... And that's before the new price hikes that will likely undoubtedly also go to the same investor pockets.

TL;DR the Investors are being giant gay Jews and fucking up OSRS. Jagex is actively trying to fight for the players.
  1. They cut out 3 month memberships to stop people who only would pay when new content was released then stop (absolutely shit tier move). From an investor standpoint 3 month memberships likely looked scary.
  2. They want to cut down on the already abysmal player support level in osrs
  3. They have been overworking and underpaying certain devs
  4. Jagex hasn't provided actual account security features for OSRS that has been promised for 3 years
As someone who plays OSRS but is also an RS3 player I will say that they actually HAVE done this and HAVE made some pretty good new content or updates to ways to do content in the past years (archeology was an amazing update and is super fun and well done, golden party hat, steam partnership, player owned farm, dungeoneering sagas, construction contracts etc.) although this year is slow minus a new master level quest and incoming player-voted osrs skins to the game. This is not true for how they have treated OSRS as they basically count on turbo autists to stay turbo autists and pay up regardless where RS3 you have to actually deliver to get membership. HOWEVER RS3 also now has a membership increase too (honestly buying the game on an annual basis for like $60usd is really fucking cheap for an mmo and it ends up cheaper than monthly pricing) the REEEE-ing isn't as powerful as it is in OSRS (naturally).

This update in price hikes and unfair treatment of employees actually has some Redditors say they're going to stop playing to make investors listen which is 🌈🌈🌈 of me to believe in. I also foresee organized in game RuneScape Riots and protests as is standard for the osrs community.

Negroing thread does anyone else miss the sand casino? because I do I miss buying gold and staking it at the casino it was fun but reddit had to go and ruin it with their moral fagging about gambling addicts

Footage from Runescape events unfolding as we speak:

tl;dr the weekly game update today launched a new holiday event for Pride 2022, the first Pride event since 2017. The Pride event in 2017 was highly controversial. Players have taken to the streets of Falador to do what Runescape players do best, riot. Which is what you see in the video.

Reddit is heavily censoring discussion on this, requiring approval before many posts become visible and deleting over 40% of posts on the update thread outright, with Reddit moderators expressing their desire to outright ban all dissent (which is par for the course with Reddit these days):

Funny enough, the 1 hour and 30 minutes long "In-Game Pride March" on June 23rd 2022 is completely free-to-play, which is a nightmare concept on its own considering that there's going to be an onslaught of upset players throwing alts and disgruntled mass botters without a single doubt going to cause mayhem.

Even if you aren't interested in the game itself, I highly actually do suggest jumping in and just following + recording the march just to see the chaos unfold. An unedited full 1:30 of both W500 and W562 would be grand, considering most of 2017's experience is only retained in snippets of eceleb youtubers screaming over it and very few pictures.

Which of course they will have jmods on-site (after hours no less, enjoy that unpaid overtime!!!) to ban anyone disruptive. Obviously, everyone smart is going to use a VPN and throwaway alts, which Jagex will use as PROOF! that nobody who actually plays the game was disruptive, like they did last time. To this day the line from current and even former Jagex employees is that the 2017 pride was crashed by insidious 4channers who don't even play Runescape. They can't admit that the majority of their playerbase doesn't want this shit, especially not with the equity firm that owns the company readying it for sale in the near future. But ultimately the pride event is temporary and will be gone soon enough. What's really worrying is this:

I'll never understand why people play OSRS when there are free trials of MMO's with more content than the paid membership of Runescape.

Necroing just to say why is it always fucking Falador where these things happen? Place is fucking cursed at this point to be ground zero for drama and autism.
It started way back in 2006 when the first few 'riots' happened, due to it being in the middle of the old community trade zone, so it'd be easy to get attention with the spambots. Then it turned into this community in-joke to always have the spamming shit fits there, even on the same server, long after it stopped being a trade hub due to the Grand Exchange.
In short, retards copying oldfag traditions despite it achieving nothing but a bunch of muted accounts, everytime

I dunno what's worse; OSRS's community autism or how every weekly update is like 2 things polled months ago and they stretch out the newspost to make it seem substantial. They made half of today's update "change list" about a cat you can now pet in a clan hall most people will never see and this is after last week's Group Ironman updates. They can't even commit to a release date for Raids 3, supposedly what's holding up substantial updates. :story:

I gave up on OSRS a while ago but watching the stream and quality of updates trickle and the subreddit's consistent autism is like a slow-moving car wreck I can't look away from.

Been checking the state of the game myself for nearly a decade after I quit (mainly from checking new song uploads) and I've noticed ever since Jagex kept getting passed around to random investment firms like a piece of meat, the volume and quality of updates has tanked hard, while the subscription price keeps going up and up, and old talent keeps leaving.

The OSRS poll system is also completely flawed and should be scrapped, since they already push updates without polling (equipment nerfs, gay pride twice, etc.) that would be unpopular with the players voting, and I remember a few months ago, they tried to poll rewards for a PvP arena, and every single one failed despite them trying to put a requirement so only pk'ers could vote, because they thought non-pk'ers were the ones mass downvoting everything.

Its fun just watching a game I used to love when I was younger slowly burn in a flaming car-wreck thats been going on for years, just like watching the state of Blizzard
