Oldfag / Old Internet Sperging Thread - ILJ calls herself "anonymous," she is a hacker on steroids.

If you haven't racked up a long distance bill dialing in to remote computers in the days before Internet, you're not that old of an oldfag.

But did you just happen upon a list of BBSes via a "zine" or did you discover a stealth board by scanning your local exchange with ToneLoc?

The truth is, alas, mundane. IDK now I got the first number, but that led to local BBSes, locals led to remotes, and so on. Ended up on Seth Robinson's BBS thanks to Legend of the Red Dragon, among other things. I still have a registration code for it somewhere. Sent him a check via snail mail, he sent the code back.

Oh, door games. I was a big fan of TradeWars 2002 myself. Never really got into LORD.

Did anyone ever play that pimp simulator door game where you could do drugs and reuse condoms?

The only two I really played much were Usurper and LORD, and I didn't event really play those much actually on a BBS. I downloaded copies and played them single player, mostly. I had a friend who I'd play LORD with a bit. We'd each take our turn, then I'd advance the calendar.

Anyone ever use goto.com or hotbot.com?

Those were late 1990s search engines.

(Google was around too and better...)
I remember webcrawler.

If I remember right, google didn't really take off until the early-mid 2000s

How I've been feeling about this entire incident:
In college we had a weeaboo kid who looked just like the Garugamesh kid, minus the goth shit. Made me lol so hard
