Once Edgy - Now pearl clutchers.

I notice that the people who are most vocal about "anti-edge" or "anti-trolling" were themselves edgelords or trolls at one one point. They seem to suffer from "trolls remorse" but at the same time, Trying to force their new "improved ideas on other people.
A lot of the times when people get too balls deep in some kind of culture they'll tend to course-correct as they mature. For example, you might be an edgy fedora atheist as a youngun but as you grow older and meet more people you tend to realize that your preconceptions about the world were wrong (or so you perceive at least) and you drift away from that, looking back on your younger self as cringe and retarded.

As for the people trying to push their ideas on others, think about born-again christians or any other sort of convert. They turned away from a lifestyle that gave them no joy to a lifestyle that fills them with happiness and vitality and community. Obviously, this new mindset has to be the right one, and EVERYBODY should be a part of it. It feels so fantastic to live this way, it's morally wrong to live anyway else.

I'm underslept and I've been watching a lot of videos about Cruelty Squad so forgive me if I sound especially weird, ethereal or nihilistic.

Thats what happened one of the creators of the game Warcraft, Chris Metzen. He found himself a cute "christian" girl, started going to church and later had a daughter. I dont see anything wrong with "grown up" and moving unto other things. its just "grown up" is not denying everything you did in the past as bad and letting other people walk all over you.

Matzen started to feel ashamed when his daughter asked him why female characters in warcraft wear less cloths.

He also ended up getting cucked when his "trad wife" turned away from Christ and became a lesbian. Matzen lost his balls after settlingdown.

TLDR edgelords/trolls turn into spinless people with no joy once they settledown.

That reminds me of a friend I had, he had a goth wife until she divorced him and turned into a pooner.
Only difference is that he turned edgier after.

The boring answer is that people that start things that are cool and edgy and fun grow up and get bored and move on, leaving that cool thing a shallow husk of itself that can be picked apart by vultures. As you get older, you have more to lose in life and more skin in the game; along with creeping closer to your own mortality. For most people, these are natural deterrents to taking a lot of risks or being edgy. Personally a lot of times things that seemed cool and edgy when I was younger are really just performative nonsense you do to impress people, and you stop giving a shit about what people who don't know you think about you as you get old too.
But I would say there's a difference between getting old and going back on your principals. I'll never stop saying words like faggot or retard, because they're fun to say. But indulging in things like gore/shock videos, being a total cunt to someone for no reason, or a myriad of other things online/off I did as a teen and in my 20s I just don't have the energy for now.
TLDR: you become a soft pussy who's afraid of dying as you get old
NIGGER DID YOU JUST SAY WHAT I WAS SAYING IN A MORE CONCISE AND INTELLIGENT FASHION?

Thanks tho.

He was kicked out of the various big Doom communities. ModDB is a big site that covers more than just Doom so the drama didn't really spread there, and his mod is popular enough that he isn't beholden to the Doom modding community. That's a good thing imo. Those Doom communities didn't deserve him.
Damn straight he isn't, I hope this doesn't get him down and work on his stuff will continue because BD is a shit ton of fun. Thankfully Moddb is a lot of things but as far as I know they've never taken down a mod because the author makes a joke or has a certain opinion, I've been out of the scene for a long time so maybe that has changed.

As for the edgy thing, I thing the prime motivator is money, money talks especially when you're making enough to support yourself. This shows a clear lack of character but I imagine this is the primary cause of people going remorse-mode. I think it should be said that people can change their opinions over time but in a lot of cases we've seen, they not only do this on a dime but they also reject their original community or audience which is just spit in the face to the people who have stuck around the longest.

Over the last decade or so, I've noticed a bunch of media, celebrities, communities, and companies once know for being edgy are now the biggest milquetoast pearl clutchers in existence. Some seem to have trolls remorse, others got infiltrated by troons, and others I don't know what happened.
Only troons, lefties, and buck broken conservatives are allowed to have voices on most social media. Everyone else got banned when forums got consolidated into Reddit.
It's why when Musk bought out Twitter it immediately went full 1488 and got extremely edgy. Most people online are still quite edgy it's just that they're censored.

You can see this if you view Youtube's hidden comments. You can easily find some of the edgiest people alive still talking shit to each other but never actually being able to flame each other because of the shadow banning.

I think the most egregious example of this is Howard Stern. He spent  DECADES being the most disturbing, sexist, rebellious, and counterculture shock jock on radio. He built his reputation on it. But once he "had it made" with his multi-million dollar XM Radio deal, he all of a sudden went soft. A healthy dose of TDS and covid insanity didn't help things out either. Jimmy Kimmel is another one. Starting out with his shenanigans on The Man Show with the scantily clad girls and blackface skits. Of course, if you carry and parrot the Correct Opinions™️ all of these transgressions are ignored or handwaved away. But if you so much as say one thing against the narrative, they'll come down on you for every single instance of wrongthink you have ever done in your entire life. Look at JKR.

It's one thing to tone down your edgy humour, but these two became the total personification of soft mainstream media-trained bullshit. Very sad!

With Kimmel, I feel like his about-face is complete fakery. Beneath the surface he's still the same guy but he knows which side his bread is buttered. The minute the cultural winds change towards allowing slight edginess again, he'll start bringing that back into his "comedy".

Stern on the other hand is a completely different person now. Had a lot to do with his wife, I feel. He already had a $500 million radio contract, he didn't need to go soft, I think he wanted to.

Whatever it is that made them into what they are eventually burns out or fades away in some fashion and that means the idea behind who they are starts to erode and thus them
People don't like to hear this but a lot of why Chris Chan was such a notorious fuck up in his college days was his parents and especially father. If you notice once Bob's out of the picture and Chris can frequent gay bars he simmers down from being a very online tard with opinions that cause people to lash out at him. I think it was JessiePS that said Bob was the one that came up with the idea of the "boyfriend free girl" sign and how "it worked back in my day" and didn't realize it lead to so much mockery.

But yeah with the stress of shitty parents and high school in general there's a reason people instantly chill out once they leave their parents and fuck off to say college or anywhere else. Plenty of boomers only learned to be adults because of starter homes and having to repair shit on their own.
The problem is that troons and faggots dictate what is edgy more than actual edgelords now
It was always like that. It's why people who'd mock Sarah plain and joke about raping her would get super offended at actual racist jokes. The difference is that more people are online and can see through the faux edgy kikes. No one was calling out Jon Stewart or Anthony Jesselnik effectively in the pre-smart phone days.

But they both had to backpedal very hard and apologize because of what they said on a podcast about calling other comedians racist when the other person decided to show receipts.
between the release of the song blurred lines and trump becoming president
It is sort of hilarious how quickly women went from slutwalks to #metoo almost like it was always a trap. Plenty of women that pandered to male gaze went 100% dyke instead years later. At least Rose McGowan admitted it was sort of bullshit and she was being used even worse being an activist vs a sex symbol.

Stern was clearly trying to sell out as late as the 90s, once private parts flopped and he realized he was stuck on the show he lashed out hard.

Losing Jackie but having tons of comedians on helped smooth things over for people but he pretty obviously jumped to satellite because he was tired of FCC bullshit and wanted to coast. The last year of him before satellite he was doing triple the amount of hours he was doing in 2011. Going from 5 days pre satellite. To 4 on the first contract then 3 on renewal and doing less and less work for more money. He stopped leaving the house once he got the in house studio in 2020. It was rather obvious in hindsight most of his edgiest takes was him saying what Jackie wrote him and he was more sanitized than people believed. The same way Ant was considered the funniest non stand up back in the O&A days but he was just picking lines from chat and all his talent vanished once he couldn't rely on that in the Tacn days

Oh, that's a big one. Idubbz should be a warning to people who plan sell out either to corporation or BPD pussy. Ethan Klein is also another person who used to be the "funny shock jock" until he sold out.
They were always clout chasers. It's why it was so easy for them to turn off. Stern and most Jews have a similar thing. They pander for money and fame, once they're secure they can let out their real opinions. Think about it like how everyone in a corporate job has to pretend to be a good office drone from HR. And if you're high enough on the food chain you can stop acting like a fag. Only the exact opposite.

A great example is actresses whining about the patriarchy who used to play sluts and bimbos before that. It's not that their opinions changed, it's just that they're now more financially secure and can take the hit from refusing to play those roles now.
Beneath the surface he's still the same guy but he knows which side his bread is buttered
From what I hear and see that's pretty much it, also a bit of having kids and getting older but it's rather obvious when he's creating 1970s sitcom episode reenactments with the guy that wrote Tropic Thunder that they understand how soft people have gotten and how stupid the media is and that's their way of lashing out.

You can't really tell me two dudes writing blackface jokes in 2008 became pussies, so much as understanding they're close to being fired and never getting a job again because of diversity.

In some cases, I guess they see that it was a waste of time and try to alert others. It happens with criminals too but, eh, they got their reasons.

Alot of poeple dont understand that parents are the most important and impactful part of a kids life, but disregard it and dont bother to take it seriously.

Keegan Michael Key and Jordan Peele (Key & Peele)

They weren't especially edgy as much as they were sketch comedians with their comedy primarily centered around racial humor. Their stuff wasn't even controversial or really self-deprecating but was more so just Black comedy presented to a mostly non-black audience.

I think they're a special case though in that they had a very successful run (I liked watching them) and likely would never have faced any backlash since their comedy wasn't based on bashing their race. With the rise of BLM and other retard shit, they, but mostly Jordan Peele, moved away from traditional and sketchy comedy to pursue more "artistic" ventures more focused on the original J Cole "woke" "we wuz kangs n sheet" context focusing heavily on race. To be fair, "Get out" was decent, but after that it was just a downward spiral into what I can only describe as "nigger Mary Sue" type stories where instead of mirroring the realities of growing up in poverty, violence, and suffering at the hands of your own community but still managing to succeed despite it, nigger Mary Sue's grow up in the same conditions, but are somehow able to be highly intelligent and develop complex personalities with interests in education, reading, and helping their community, and all that poverty and violence? It's actually just the fault of white people and the police. Non-sensical stories about diamond in the rough black savants and their fight against racism along with their communities that totally don't have any problems whatsoever. It's insane.

I think 4chan when it got "defanged" comes to mind, the old users fucked off to other sites or just left and what's left is a shell of itself. I would not say it went pearl-clutching but went more degenerate.
Another point with the loss of edgy the generation of young people that dealt with Internet porn took over rather than saying something edgy.

Peele is up there with Idris Elba as black guys who have a positive reputation that amounts to having a positive reputation.

"Idris Elba is such a good actor! He should be the next James Bond!"
"What was he good in?"
"Erm..." *starts scrolling through phone

Gail Simone is a white woman who writes comic books, but the same thing applies.

It's kinda weird. 4chan is more degenerate than ever. You can still post lolicon and borderline CP content, but don't you DARE misgender a troon or call a nigger a nigger.

Warren Spector. Guy made multiple violent games and a decade later starts acting like violent video games are the devil. Dude, your most famous game lets players blow orphans up with a rocket launcher. Did Disney give you brain worms?

I want to say South Park. I've never seen a cartoon with THAT much shock value and vulgarity in its heyday at the millennium. Now, it's just headline posturing, cheap gags, and in your face social commentary with no nuance. Frankly, it's like a kid that never grew up.
