One one hand Blackbeard is a fucking shitstain.

On the other..fucking Kuma came in clutch to fuck Imu's plans.

We have an interesting few tidbits here, Imu has most certainly Usurped the rightful rulers of the world, and has to be coping that Davey D Jones was "never" king. Which is kind of interesting since the World Government as we know it came to be in the Void Century War so if Davey was meant to be King of the World then that means we have 2 instances of D. being in the 20 Kingdoms that warred with Joyboy's Empire.

The way Xebec is talking, Joyboy and Davey are probably not the same person, and If Davey was in The Alliance we have a great war between Joyboy and Davey. I wonder if maybe Imu was playing both sides, betrayed both and made a deal(the with the devil sort) with the eventual Celestial Dragons and something at Laugh Tale fucks that deal.

This means that Luffy is the random cross section of both of Imu's Karmic Retributions coming.

I get the feeling that Davey was the ruler of the One Great Kingdom, and Joyboy was like luffy, a heedless pirate. That 'ruler of a kingdom' bit i always struggled to reconcile with our resident crackroach. Maybe joyboy aligned with Davey D. Jones because Jones fed him first.

More seriously, it's likely that Davey Back Fights started as a way to bargain for King Davey's freedom in a hostage situation.

Pour one out for a real one, lads, we know what happens to Rocks from here and it's not fun for anyone involved.

I don’t think it’s ever been established that “D” and the Great Kingdom are related. I’m not sure if Davy was established as from the kingdom either. Everything about the Great Kingdom is strictly endgame at this point, and I remain confident that Luffy is at the center of a lot of lore surrounding it.
 
I wonder how Whitebeards declaration that "Teach isn't a real D." works now that we know Teach is the direct line descendant of the big D.

I think the idea is that Blackbeard doesn’t have the innate and intangible qualities that allowed Roger to conquer the Grand Line and became Pirate King, nor the qualities that let him have a crew who’d go to Hell and back by his side. And all that’s left is to show that Luffy does possess those innate things because Blackbeard’s whole thing is just “he’s Luffy, but…..evil.”

Probably not Blackbeard's biggest fan (he only beat Ace), but if offered a choice between beating the life out of Teach or Sakazuki, Luffy's going after Sakazuki.

I am perplexed by Imu's power and whatever the rules, conditions, secret sauce are behind it, because as it seems to work now, it is broken, even by One Piece standards (immortality and free regens for his immediate subordinates, possession of his subordinates anywhere in the One Piece world, teleportation, Domi Reversi, Weapon Summoning/Gate of Babylon).

I know you want explanations , but Oda has written things to where you have to wait for the endgame before these powers are explained, along with everything else you may wonder about Imu.
 
man rocks being able to even slightly resist demi reversi is cool as fuck. also kumas endless suffering makes way more sense now given how he is the reason why blackbeard is alive. also see why big mom and kaido think about rocks how they do he just randomly tried to kill them for seemingly no reason.

all that aside the way rocks talks about davy jones and how they are apparently linked by fate to imu leaves me to believe there was a war at some point between davey jones and imu that involved the usage of all the ancient weapons joyboy/nika played a role similar to dragon with the revolutionary army and united all the slaves and buccaneer people but in the end imu won and has since then been doing everything in his power to make sure there is never rematch. the great battle oda talks about really is just going to be the rematch that imu has been trying all these years to avoid.

also what if the will of d is just a bigger version of the kozuki family crest tattoo all the resistance members had on wano while they waited for the moment to strike against kaido and orochi.

It has definitely been implied Roger had similar report with his crew that Luffy does with his. Maybe not through quite as drastic measures, but Roger also had way more time (like an order of magnitude) to endear himself compared to Luffy.

sometimes i wonder if what whitebeard meant was far more literal than we realize. its not so much that blackbeard does not have the right qualities its that blackbeard is straight up not the person. because the person was the reincarnation of nika/joyboy which blackbeard is not. he could still become king of the pirates though he would just not be the right man the same as roger.
