Taken from the
"Oney Plays Wiki" on their page about Game Grumps:
'In a stream, former OneyPlays co-hosts Ding Dong and Julian expressed their opinion of Game Grumps then upcoming game, Dream Daddy. Ding Dong took issue with the fact that the game, a visual novel focused on gay relationships, was written and produced entirely by people who aren't gay in order to virtue signal and "put themselves on a pedestal" while attempting to attract the "Tumblr audience". '
'Julian echoed Ding Dong's sentiments, saying that, "having watched its development and played a beta build, I just don’t think anybody cared about creating a quality product while making it because they knew it’d get good reviews for 'virtue signalling' or whatever it’s called by people smarter than me". He also say that he "was told not to talk about the game in public", and "hated having to be vague about criticizing it".'
All of this lead to Ninja Brian and Suzy doing damage control on social media, saying that D.D. and Julian never playtested or even worked on the game. Everyone who had talked with D.D. or Julian privately about their true feelings on Dream Daddy ended up backpedaling hard, leaving the two to solely deal with the fallout. D.D. was doxxed by a Game Grumps fan no less, which led to random retards contacting D.D.'s family and outing him as gay. D.D. at that point in his life had yet to out himself, as noted here:
"Ding Dong also implied that he would have done "something drastic" had Julian not been there for him."
Add to that the recent revelations that:
-Matt from SuperMega was one of the people encouraging DD to speak out, and the one who gave him the build of the game, but later turned his back on them when the drama happened.
-Ryan from SuperMega was one of the few (maybe the only) who told him that speaking out was a bad idea, that the game was destined to be forgotten in a matter of months and speaking out would only cause drama that would keep it in people's minds past its natural expiry date (he was absolutely right), and that he wouldn't do anything that would risk his job because he knew Arin is vindictive.
-DD claims
no one from his circle publicly supported him at the time, and that may be true in terms of going and making a public statement in social media. But the almost certain rumor is that Arin started withholding payment from OneyPlays as a whole, not just DD and Julian. So it's possible that Chris did side with them internally. All the same, it was at this point that Chris took OneyPlays out of the GameGrumps offices (and, as an aside, supposedly Arin was straight up
scamming Chris in terms of how much he charged him for using the offices; instead of having Chris pay him for it,
he'd receive the OneyPlays money and then pay Chris. The breakdown is unclear so the following numbers may not be fully accurate, but it's said to have been something ridiculous, like Arin taking 60% of the money and giving Chris 40%, from which Chris would have to pay DD and Julian).
-The "drastic thing" was that DD tried to kill himself (supposedly with pills, which is the "look at me" way to do it, but let's give him the benefit of the doubt), and Julian stopped him. Then, when he told people from the GameGrumps circle, they didn't care, an one person even "jokingly" suggested he should do it for real and leave a note blaming
someone for it.
In the end DD and Julian moved away, which is why they're only on OneyPlays when they visit Chris (or Chris visits them? I don't know which way it was). It's telling that out of everyone, Chris is the only one they're still friends with.
Anyway, DD has long been doing these frankly boring 12 or so hour streams, and occasionally spills some beans about the situation when he gets manic or depressive enough.
What triggered this particularly revelatory round of sperging was Matt showing up in chat during a stream, acting like they're in good terms, and donating a bunch of subs. DD refused to accept the donation, and declared he'd give back the money, which due to the way Twitch works, would mean they'd actually lose money. This set him off and he started talking about all of the above, which was then picked up by drama YouTubers like Bowblax, who confirmed having heard much of what DD said and added more details.
Incidentally, Bowblax' source may be Veronica, Chris' ex and protagonist of the other current drama in this sector.
