Dingdong did finally bring something up about Bippy on stream. It didn't occur to me to rip the stream footage so it's another "trust me" text post.
He stated these three things:
1) They decided they weren't satisfied with it and wanted to make the game bigger, so now it's on the backburner while they figure out how to.
2) It was for a publisher and now they're "glad it didn't work out" without going into detail. Some easy presumptions there, publishers can be skeezy.
3) They had two other artists for Bippy but don't have them anymore, so anything the two of them do on Bippy is just them now.
I did raise my eyebrow when he squeezed out DingDongVG's Summer Resort fairly quickly but was rather quiet on Bippy. So if we take him on his word with that one that's an explanation. Trigger Treat supposedly is being dusted off and slated to finish this year after being on the shelf for 3(?) years.
I noticed people were throwing around different numbers on what their Patreon earns, if anyone ever wants to bring up their earnings there's this site
here which gives it a timeline. Their earnings 2017-2019 were probably largely eaten up by LA's hellish costs and should potentially be not considered, but January of 2020 it was earning $3400 before Patreon took their cut and taxes (would cut it short to ~$2800) which is about the range someone could start hiring for artists and other programmers. He also freelances for unknown amounts of time so there's little knowing when that halts the WAN WAN GAMES.
In case anyone's wondering about my full thoughts on DingDong and Julian since I'm usually post about them favorably: I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt but the silence about Bippy while he started three other games had me bummed out. I do content creation too with a single other person while we both work full time and it takes us at least a year for a short animation, so I can understand the halts, but it somewhat came off as him being easily distracted or multitasking on too many projects at once.
So long as DingDong is no longer openly suicidal on stream and Julian has something to work on - I'm pretty glad for them. But I still hope to see the two punch out finished stuff.
Oh, but I DID get scrap part 2 of DingDong and
The Burping Man.
