Speaking of Slightly Artistic, this and other games where they can make stuff with art are some of my favorites. It makes me go "Oh yeah, these slobs are artists".

They do monthly VODs of progress streams on things they're working on for their patreons and Dingdong is also about to finish a tetris style game with dominoes called Dominoid as well. The fuck do you want from a 2 person team working on a shoe string budget? Skyrim 2?

Also Chris finally got his dark and gritty Pokemon series it's finally getting some continuation now that their patreon support has gone up.

Over $6000 a month is a shoestring budget? That’s more than a lot people make in a yearly quarter.

6k for 2 people to fund multiple projects while paying all of their bills, basic living expenses and feeding themselves. IF that's after patreon takes 40%. And beyond that if they're still living in Chicago the average rent there is almost 2K per month. You little kids obviously have no fucking idea how reality works.

Maybe you would be interested in funding my project, creating a nuclear power plant out of sand, it will take a while but with smart and not at all gullible people like you, i'm sure i will be done some time, oh yeah, my project's name will be "Project: Forever paid for nothing IV".

You should do what Dingdong did and completely rework your project a bunch of times midway saying you aren't satisfied with the colors or whatever and then start a bunch of other projects that will lead nowhere while still working on the first one, don't forget to lash out at the people waiting for your project to be completed when they ask you what the fuck you're actually doing with the money you're being given.

No but this is okay though because he made a browser game and is making a puzzle game that’s DEFINITELY coming out soon that he hasn’t advertised at all.

I wonder what the timeline is from recording to posting game sessions. I remember Dave and Cory mentioning Nextbots during the Boneyplays 2023 and it didn't get posted until 2024. And then Dustborn came out summer 2024 and that session got posted last month. Seems sporadic and really throws off my parasocial connection with the boys.

Graffiti Kingdom’s been an absolute treat of a series so far. Old obscure janky games and games that have a creative element like you mentioned are primo Oneyplays material.
I hope they end up fucking around with the battle mode that Cory mentioned

I still think about the time he made Tomar genuinely afraid by asking him if he wanted to hear about what his brother did to him in the bathtub and accidentally making it sound like he got raped at first lmao

And if you haven't seen that stream then you're not a true fan of Dingdong. His day-long streams where he just plays and yaps are the best, just don't ask on his chat how gamedev is going or mention any memorable moments from that other awful youtube channel.

What do you think the bulk of a game budget is? Funny hats? It's wages. Sure, maybe they have to pay a licensing fee or they might need to contract something like music, but most of it's going to be wages. To themselves. Which is how they pay their bills. Unless they're living in one of the most expensive places on the planet - a dense urban environment - they're making around or above the median.

I think a lot of the ire comes from the fact that, if you are a creative, it's somewhat-maddening to consider what you could get done with an extra 40+ hours a week.
