I like dave he’s the right balance of “aw what’s wrong little guy?” And raunchy shit. Plus brainrot memes that are out of date by a guy who doesn’t know what the hell they are, is my favorite kind of comedy
 
With Otto Heckle out of the shadow realm I watched his Chris Goes Gaga compilation. It's been like half a decade since I've watched any of the DD&J era Oneyplays and oh my god... I forgot how fucking funny it could be when things weren't so damn censored on YouTube. I was laughing harder than I have in a long time consistently through the video. The Cortex next to Tigger reveal had me gasping for breath since I'd never seen it.

Fuck you nigga I am a Dave appreciator. Him and Chris together are perfect for tormenting AI. Even Corey has had some good moments when he’s paired with them. Corey bullying Homer into throwing Bart into a wood chipper made me short of breath because I was laughing so hard.

The "Doxx this dumb cunt" bit in the first Kingdom Hearts 2 episode would have definitely been neutered with a gorilla sound bite if it were uploaded today.

They are all algorithm-addled zoomers who like the idea of Newgrounds more than what Newgrounds actually is/was. They're the kind of people who think Hypnospace Outlaw was an accurate depiction of 90's-early 2000's Internet and think the extent of edgelordism back then was saying gay and retarded. They were all using Tumblr before FNF came out, if they were even old enough for that.

The kinds of people who are making these zines, who make up the majority of new Newgrounds users, are just obsessed with the aesthetics of the website and desperately want to become the next Zach Hadel: someone who starts out making goofy cartoons on Newgrounds with a shoestring budget and a zany sense of humor, but works their way up to becoming an Internet celebrity with a massively popular cartoon. But they can't become the next Zach, not just because they're spiteful people who refuse to put in the time and effort, but because they're clinging to an outdated view of the Internet. I'm sorry but if you want to make it big, you are not going to get that fame from working primarily on Newgrounds anymore. FNF was lightning in a bottle that gained its popularity during the pandemic. That's not going to happen again. If you want to become a successful animator, you're either going to have to play to the algorithm and make your paint-by-numbers mass-produced slop like MeatCanyon on Youtube or one of the million rule34 artist on Twitter. Or, you know, you could make something of actual value that isn't comparable to anything already in the market currently, instead of creating another #relateable slice of life Midwest furry animation with Y2K aesthetics (Rat Bastardz) or Smiling Friends at home (Bridge Kids).

I've yet to read it but the fact that the upcoming Kiwifarms zine has a genuine chance of being better than the fucking Newgrounds one is a (can't think of a good ending, gotta go poop and take a shower.)

Hmmm... I'm lazy as fuck when it comes to art, but this might be a good time to take one of the cringe pages of the NG Zine and re-do it in Kiwi context. I'll have to look through them all again and find the funniest option and think of something kinda relevant, but it'd be a funny addition to the jam I think.
 
Never mind, the Newgrounds Zine is actually really fucking funny.
There's definitely some duds - that guy's furry OC chainsawing Zach and the "Rape Bros" one for example - but it mostly felt like it was in good taste and focused on making a gag instead of seething.
I don't think that they're seriously trying to take a knock at the funny scream boys. It's only natural that they'd rib a bunch of guys who went on to become a worldwide success.
Maybe it's hypocritical. It just makes it all the more impressive that it's actually good. Maybe I'm just easily pleased, idk.
Also, I'm wondering if those "actual women" are actually women. Lol.
