OneyPlays - have a boy... with friends

I think oneyplays really does hold a special place in my heart, more so than any other gaming channel has ever done. The guys strive for goals and hard work, especially Zack's when it came to creating Smiling Friends, is really inspiring, as sappy it is to say. Following him on his career puts into perspective all the time and effort it takes to get somewhere. His first pitch went nowhere but he didn't give up and tried again. If Smiling friends had failed, I assume he would have tried again and again. I'm just happy that I had and have these relatively well-adjusted intelligently mature guys with the humor of a zoomer David Lynch when I was an impressionable student, rather than some possible cow-teir creator.

I know this is kiwi farms and all but I'd like to see if anyone else felt this way at any point. Their not exactly role models, just examples of what healthy mature adult relationships can be if you work hard, and all the "drama" surrounding them like shad and stamper are just instances of people drifting away over time due to personalities or maturity.

It’s really weird to think that Tomar’s the most quietly successful of the lot. Dude co-runs an animation company which has worked on a bunch of mainstream stuff, like Disney, WB, Netflix Animation level stuff, and yet he’s over on Oneyplays saying a bunch of fucked-up shit that would get anyone else in that field canceled 10X over.

Also, they’re the only “professional” YT channel I can think of to still throw around “fag”, albeit censored with that gorilla noise. I kind of hate to be “haha they said a bad word”, yet when literally everyone else avoids it like it would literally delete their entire channel and smite them dead on the spot, it’s effective.

It definitely helps that the Oney vibe is pretty much "Bunch of friends play games and call each other retards" rather than "Bunch of corporate hacks try to please their twitter audience for a day" like SOME other channels
Many people may hate Oney and crew but they definitely cannot deny that those fellas can sure make some monkey noises

There was one Sleepycast episode where the boys were talking about future goals. I think they were talking about what they wanted to have accomplished in the next three years, and Zach said that he wanted to have a show picked up by a major studio by then. I was listening to it about five years after the podcast released, when Smiling Friends had aired its pilot but hadn't been publicly announced to have been picked up. I knew listening to it that he didn't hit that three-year timeframe, but he was still out there trying and had a big opportunity in front of him.

When the show was finally officially announced to have a full season, I was really happy that he made his dream happen. It may have taken him a few more years than he hoped, but he kept trying and eventually made it. This was coming right around the time I was finishing my degree two years after I initially projected I would. A combination of decisions and setbacks delayed me from getting where I wanted, but eventually I did get there. It's something that I'm going to remember from now on. Sometimes things don't happen when you want them to, but you can still make them happen.

I just remembered that I'm Alex Yiik on this website, and I swear I'm not referencing his state at the beginning of the game. Believe me, I don't want to actually be like Alex irl.

Especially woketards.
Despite the claims of "hurrchudbigotwhateverisms", Oney's crew is very diverse. We have gays, a Jew, a hapa, a latino, a dumb coomer, a black guy, Chris' Irish and britbong pals, two big e-celebs, a popular goblino and even a tranny. Maybe because many of the crew are close friends with Chris or are older n wiser they can shrug off the edgy slur jokes because they know it's just jokes.

I still have this bad feeling that Oneyplays will succumb to the LA mind rot. It's just a matter of time when they'll become anti-fun and ruin the goofy fun times or just be filled with drama and lolcow behavior that it will transfer this thread to the internet famous board.
Oh well, I'll just enjoy the current output and have fun

I’m not seeing this being nearly as much of an issue for them, there’s too many people too set in their ways. It’s not like a Supermega where it’s 2-3 people that can be easily swayed based on how the wind blows, instead you have like 10 who… while not being “anti-woke” specifically, don’t give a shit about being politically correct.
 
Watching Smiling Friends really did remind me of the first time I watched Aqua Teen Hunger Force and how entertaining it was seeing something like that on TV. Zack really did make the "Broodwich" conversation scene into an entire TV show.

I don't think the boys would ever be chewed up and spit out by LA like Supermega/Game Grumps were, pretty sure Chris has already expressed an urge to leave LA, and Zach's not-so-subtle thoughts about the media industry and general "woke culture" put out in Smiling Friends gives me faith that the boys have their heads screwed on tightly enough to avoid being infested. I can unfortunately see Tomar eventually falling down the rabbithole since all LA based voice actors tend to, but the rest of the funny men are safe bets on remaining fine, I think.

I expect Tomar to try to stay out of trouble, rather than falling into it. I seem to recall Jeff is pretty far gone, though.
 
Jeff was mostly interesting as a prop to bring out the most hyper-autistic characteristics of Oney and Corey, which is what made those episodes funny. That said, this is still one of my favourite Oney Plays moments and I'm not gonna take that away from Jeff (even if Chris did the heavy lifting).

Tomar, based on his own words, is a gun owner (or at least goes to the range) and knows quite a bit about our very own forum so I wouldn't be worried about him falling down any rabbit holes. He's probably pretty left leaning as is but I doubt he's full on retard leftist

He strikes me as old school liberal. He and I may disagree occasionally, but he'll fight for the right for me to create a Thunderdome Daycare to get rid of this sissyfied nation.
