I'm so glad I got out of WoW early lmao, drawing a circle.
Though I haven't played it in a few years, I am what some might call a filthy WoW white knight (in a lot of regards, not all...) and Cory makes it sound way worse than it is. The shape quest takes like 30 seconds compared to the normal things (kill x, collect x) and is just variety... that whole factions quest are super short minigames that give like 10x the reputation of other factions.

Cory is also just actually retarded, I can imagine him being unable to walk in a circle. His brain can not properly convey the issues he has.

Yeah, but also MMOs just suck now, and I genuinely believe anyone who plays a modern MMO is a victim of the sunken cost fallacy or just has a masochism/paypig fetish. It's such an egregious waste of time compared to any other genre of videogame. You have to actively schedule your days around the fucking things because of raids and other guild shit. Even the best, top-rated modern MMO is still a mediocre game.

I will occasionally get that nostalgia and remember how much fun MMOs used to be, and then wake up from the rose-tinted dream to the digitalized equivalent of watching grass grow or paint dry. There will never be another good MMO because of the massive amount of funding the project needs. So the only MMOs that come out will just be neat ideas, fated to fall apart within a week, or gambles by multimillion dollar company shareholders to leech off the handful of whales that succumb to their addiction, while the rest fumble around in the world of monotony. Beguiled by the occasional smidgen of creativity the devs accidentally drop into the game before patching it out, as the crowd decrees "It's not that bad" as they put their blindfold back on to feel their way around, lost in their own fantasy of a game which doesn't actually exist. At the same time, you will have the sycophants on media platforms begging their corporate masters for more gibs, as they preach to their braindead audience that the game is "steadily getting better". Most of the time, they won't even obtain financial benefit; they do it for free! They do it for cosmetic shinies for their little avatar to wear, so that they might feel special and important for one more day.

At least with regular games, you have a few indie companies who actually care about making a good game, but unless some new glorious tech comes out, MMOs will be beyond their scope for quite a while.

Sorry for the rant.

I agree with a lot of what you said, and I have been on the 'MMOs are dead' train for a long time myself. Scheduling raids and shit is absolutely annoying as an adult, and MMOs are basically useless without the social aspect which keeps getting watered down to begin with. Eventually WoW is going to die, and with it the last remnant of that era of MMOs being more than an online live-service micro-transaction serving mechanism.
