Just throwing out a question to the thread, Favorite/most rewatched series if you had to choose one?
My five favorites, in no particular order, with the reasons why:
1: YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG was just plain funny. The game had me laughing out loud multiple times per episode. I'm always down for a rewatch of this gut-buster video series.
2: YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG had a nice art style that stuck with me. It made me feel that the developers really went out of their way to showcase their talent. While the gameplay was lackluster, I still can't help but praise the sheer beauty of this digital medium.
3: YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG actually made me tear up at times during the more emotional scenes. The gang's reaction also felt genuine and not forced. Though I would warn those people who can't deal with traumatic topics to steer clear of this series, as it might be triggering to some, with its stark realistic portrayal of these topics.
4: YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG had a really great OST, which more than compensated for the game's flaws, as if the songs were telling their own story. Another game where the main gameplay isn't all that great (though it's certainly not bad). But it is elevated via the soundscape it creates using instrumentals that can shift from upbeat funkiness to somber melodies. Truly an ode to musicians everywhere.
5. YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG seemed to be telling a simple story in a complex environment. The way it dealt with menial topics and subverted your expectations was something you truly don't see every day. When the gang started to figure out the true meaning of some of the more intricately woven plotlines, I couldn't help but pump my fist into the air and shout "YES!". Definitely up there.
But I'm also partial to "YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG", which was a less entertaining series than they usually did, but had its moments. It was kind of like the everyman of video games; even though it wasn't doing anything special, you still couldn't help but root for it. Sadly, the analytics caused them to not finish this game, so we will never know if it had a glorious surprise in store for us.
