I'm not sure he ever was. If you listen to those stream videos you'll see Danone's almost quoting him verbatim. He uses the same talking points about KF in particular that everyone on Twitter and their mother was using. He rants non-specifically about "you guys" in the context of anyone not leaning way left politically. Kept hamming it up with a "we're gay, we've always been this way, you just never saw it in videos, we live in the deeeep south now so we keep experiencing all this shit IRL daily, it's all real, people are dying every day."

There's always been the sort of /our guy/ thinking when it comes to DD cause of the Best Gamers being haha cool irony dripping funny internet trolls, and then other stuff during early OneyPlays like the Revolution 60 eps, the Night in the Woods stream he did with Julian, and all the Dream Daddy shit. If you go back, he doesn't bitch about them using gamergate/anti-sjw thinking. He makes fun of Revolution 60 because it's a genuinely bad game and the creator is off his rocker. It's Oney and Cory who joke about his huge adam's apple. Night in the Woods sucked because him and Julian couldn't relate to the lame gay furry game with writing which amounts to a bunch of hipsters being depressed because all the characters are "ugh, i'm so trash". And with Dream Daddy, he explained it loud and clear that it was because the lead person in charge of it was a straight white guy who was directing an exploitative cash grab about gay dudes which appealed to teenage girls on tumblr, and despite being one of two openly gay dudes in the office, he and Julian were never approached about it except for people like Matt to prod him on and speak his mind.

I agree with this. DD was never /ourguy/ or something.
Never expect artists, furries or e-celebs to be based or think differently from twatter narratives. Of course there are some who are but they're rare or as crazy as the lefty ones.
I would not say oney and zach are "based" though, they're just the few "sane" e-celebs in the california dystopia.

Also DD acting as if lefty shitholes like Chicago doesn't experience death daily is funny and it's even more funny when IGNORANT people like him don't know we have a lot of women, furfags and genuine faggots posting here. :story:

id say he was more of a fencesitter, ive listened to all those things and DD is always quick to jump "both sides" after complaining about tumblr SJWs (this was 2015 so that was the term used)
 
I suppose the thing is that the KF comments are largely true, depending on where and how you look - if the site has a monoculture, it's a pretty obnoxious one. It's not unlike older 4chan in that you have to rake around in the muck to find entertaining and worthwhile chaps, which is often exhausting -- and the people who are the most fervent, frequent posters tend to be tedious. A lot of otherwise good threads on curious individuals are marred by endless, endless a-logging. Often by users who are no better than the subjects. Though I don't think there's much offense to be taken because one isn't getting validated in their choice of stomping ground. There's no real point in trying to correct the record on kiwifarms to some guy on the internet - especially not when it's half-true, really. I don't need to pretend laughing at Lou Gagliardi begging for his 40th ipad is somehow a moral, justifiable pasttime.

I asked him when he was doing the back-and-forth with this thread eons before where a wayward artist should head to, and he didn't really have an answer. For me, there's a specific type of art and a specific type of personality that thrives and comes out of the underbellies, which simply can't be replicated elsewhere. There's a cynicism and a realness to it, if you can find it. It's a fundamentally international crowd removed from time and place, bleeding in all sorts of styles and backgrounds - hence why there's plenty of racial and sexual minorities hanging out on the dedicated internet gypsy dumping website. There's nothing quite like it.

Well, this was part of the appeal on my end, as those types tend to wind up being as insufferable and poorly-adjusted as their counterparts. Imagine for a moment that Oney was, say, more in disposition and behavior like Jeremy Hambeast.
 
The thing that annoys me about DingDong is his attitude of "Oh, I understand the internet and it's culture, I've been around" and then makes the exact same mainstream AstroTurf'd assumptions you'll find from Twitter journos as is apparent with his Kiwi Farms take and his weird fucking /v/ stuff. He doesn't have to know everything about the internet, but talking out your ass is a bad look.

The /ourguy/ stuff was never true and it never needed to be, I'd personally prefer everyone to be apolitical even over having similar views to my own and just keep the focus on the subject at hand. However, the fence-sitting so-called was always part of the "I'm above everything" air DD puts on which allows him to now do the Twitter oppression talking points if it can make him feel more oppressed and "above the ignorant masses" in his mind.

DD is truly just one of those guys who gets exponentially worse the more you know about him. If I never learned anything about him outside of his personality in videos I'd think he was witty and well-adjusted instead of the weirdo basket case I am learning he is. I now have little faith they'll ever finish the game because I predict the Patreon will lose support slightly in the immediate future because of the stream, and more so in the future if he really does stop publicly doing stuff and goes through with his weird ditching the DingDong name thing. This will probably lead to a freak out where he bitches about how he's, in so many words, owed support to be independent and cause a snowball effect.

this is why i'm not bothered by people who don't "get" kiwifarms. there are not a ton of places on the open internet with unabashed NATZEES anymore and kiwifarms happens to be one of those places. there are people here who just want to point and laugh, but there are also (loud) people who are extremely mad about gay people existing or whatever. that's the reality here, which is unusual now because so much of the rest of the internet has been homogenized into a sterile hellscape.

KF is a "bad neighborhood" ... an ideological ghetto full of outcasts, a lively and compelling few blocks of the wild west. if you don't know it or spend enough time in it, you won't be able to appreciate it or see past whatever you find most objectionable. most people (like DD) take a glance, condemn the site for harboring HATE SPEECH and go on with their lives, and that's ok with me. not everything is for everyone, and my pseudonymous shitposting habit doesn't require the parasocial approval of vidya streamers.

(what is NOT ok with me is the tiny & unrepresentative subset of authoritarian tech castrato who urgently want to bulldoze this neighborhood and replace it with a gleaming sterile Apple Store... but that's a different thread)

Well, and a lot of people around here also seem to be uncomfortable with admitting that there's odd bedfellows in their area - they want to pretend that nothing done on the site is mean-spirited or remotely strays from a strictly moral, goodly attitude. Laughing at CWC making an alpha strike to complete his love-quest doesn't make me a Nazi, but I'm not going to pretend that schadenfreude regarding something objectively horrific and awful wouldn't be held against me at the pearly gates.

I suppose the flip of the coin is that, yes, I'd like to hang out somewhere subversive where I didn't have to put up with vintage 2015 jokes ad infinitum and constant jewsperging (unless it's from APC, I miss him bros....), but there's really nothing else out there.
 
I really wish I had stayed ignorant to how much of a thin skinned crybaby Ding Dong is. I can't respect a guy who acts like they are an internet veteran and then whine about people on 4chan being mean.

Lurking this thread has done irreparable damage to my opinion of DD. Overall I still like the guy and wish him well, and the LPs he's in are some of my favourites, but oh my goodness does he need a break from the internet. Julian, unplug your bf's wifi and take him to a mountain retreat for a bit.
 
Veronica stated in her and LS Mark's podcast that she plans on making a comic similar to that death one again. The topic of that comic series will be on her past experiences in relationships. What are the odds she'll sneak diss Chris in the most obvious way and then deny it again?

I'll give DD credit toward the fact he was correct that it would be a few days before anything from his stream would start showing up on things like Reddit and there would be lots of misinformation included. Some comments on the RantGrumps thread are "so Oney didn't pay DD&J?" "so this is why DD&J left OneyPlays?" because OP didn't clarify that it was the GameGrumps company or whoever DD&J were working for who didn't pay them.

Not sure Matt listened to the VODs which were linked in the RantGrumps thread because his reply is exactly how he was being described in it - neutral and apologetic, focusing on his image and work more than actually making amends, etc. Doesn't mention the gift sub refunds either so it would be interesting to know if DD forked out money to Matt on the sly (and Matt just hasn't noticed) or if Matt has now hit him up after this reply.
 
I finally got around to watching the stream reuploads by Alex, DD does not come off as aggressively bad, I respect his ability to withhold information as a MAD should they renew a wave of hate for him.

I bet you that he wants to "make amends" with ding dong and julian instead of them+chris just because they're gay and he wants to look better but him putting the blame of starting the dream daddy drama (and eventual doxxing of ding dong) is probably gonna hurt him way more in the long run just because people have someone close to Arin who they can point to now

I swear I commented on rantgrumps and reddit as a whole for the first time; they're so retarded. I can care less if Matt was "young"; he was 20 years old lmfao. At 20, you should know better. If you know you shouldn't be leaking out a build to your two gay friends that might upset them and also egg them on to speak up and then not say shit until after he gets kicked out, you're a shit person. 16-17 years old imo is young. 20 isn't. A lot of redditors insisted that selling out your friend is a lot better than not showing them the build and starting anything at all

I think he wants to "make amends" because DD spoke up via the stream and Chris was barely mentioned. It would be funny if Chris got in on this and shat on Matt too, but I don't think that will happen, so Matt has no reason to apologize, make amends or reach out publicly.

Matt leaking the Dream Daddy build to DD wasn't the sole reason for DD being doxxed so I don't think it will hurt him too much in the long run. Ding Dong clarified there was various people egging him and Julian to speak up, and you can see people suggesting otherwise being downvoted or corrected already in those threads.
