It's not for everyone but I enjoy it and you might as well. Check it out if you've got nothing better to do.

Chris and Zach are legitimately funny and manage to consistently come up with ridiculous things that catch me off guard all the time. Tomar is a good straight man and often sets the groundwork for some of the best stuff and Lyle has his moments going either way. Most of all, Chris carries on the spirit on Newgrounds/old Youtube better than most content creators and is willing to go as far as YouTube will let him for a good joke and has never been the kind of sniveling weasel that Egoraptor is.
 
oneyplays doesn't even feel like a "lets play" channel to me, its just an autism fueled podcast with a game being played really badly in the background, and i love it

Game Grumps has a distinct golden age of about 2012 - 2014 and then slowly gets worse and worse, like you experienced. Oneyplays largely has peaks and valleys so there will be entire series or guests you will hate and not stand, but it's worth it for hundreds of hours of funnies. Here's series I recommend from each guest combo:
  • Zach + Tomar - Hitman 2
    When Zach is on the show Chris becomes half a straight man and half an instigator for the bizarre stuff Zach can come up with, whilst Tomar is almost always a straight man who plays along with his role as a straight man very comfortably. He's a funny guy but he's very normal, and he responds to things normally rather than trying to be funny. This is an excellent series for how Chris is super into the game and loves showing it off, whilst using it and bouncing off of Zach to come up with ways to milk Tomar for laughs. It's also a very long series which is good
  • Zach + Lyle - Spider-Man 2
    The draw of a Lyle+Zach series is sort of different from a Zach+Tomar, because Lyle is almost always a comedic third wheel but that's what makes him funny. He's kinda awkward but that makes when he is funny even funnier and when he does sort of bomb with a joke that is funny in itself because it leads to Chris and Zach making fun of him. The Spider-Man 2 playthru just has a ton of great moments that play off the absurdity of the game
  • Zach + Cory - Sonic Heroes
    Cory is a love him or hate him guest, and this is his best series but will make or break itself depending on how long you can stand Cory. He's a bizarre kid, a coomer, a special needs seeming weirdo and a rager. The other series are great to watch because they're good games that the hosts all comment on, but Sonic Heroes is more of a podcast playthru. They do occasionally comment on the game but especially near the end due to the repetition discussions become increasingly more schizo as they try to make the game not boring, and unlike an apathetic Game Grumps playthru like Majora this just works. The schizoness has an appeal all of its own because Cory is that good at being legit crazy and Chris and Zach are that good at pretending to be crazy to get the funniest reactions out of him
  • Ding Dong + Julian - Pikmin
    DD + J are almost always together in an OneyPlays, since theyre a couple. Unlike the other hosts the appeal of these two is that they provide a more relaxed nuttiness than the others, and tend to have more chill discussions with Chris. Not that DD cant be crazy and funny but he's good at just discussing stuff with Chris or letting him do nutty stuff then adding on top of it to make it extra funny. This is their chillest playthru ever, and one where Julian really shines as he's not really someone who plays the games on the show a lot but he loves this game, as do I, and thus you get to watch a guy who's good at the game or if you just listen a very relaxing but still silly podcast that doesnt discuss that much of the game that needs to be seen to be understood
I'll listen to more playthrus and either update or reply to this list over time to give you more recommends
 
Don't forget there are really great single episode games they've played, Antarctic adventure with dd and j is one of my faves because chris at his most retarded for the most of the video

I also want to keep this specific tweet because it is a straight up lie from my experience. I looked for it on his Twitch, his featured, past broadcasts, highlights, clips, moments, uploads, all videos, youtube, everything. If it was up, people would have grabbed it. It never went up and the only way it got saved was because anons recorded a couple of hours of it. He promised to keep it up and then did not. Fucking lies, bro.

I used to watch DD's streams a bunch during 2017/2018 and he'd always say that he would reupload streams. Of course he never did except maybe 1 or 2. Haven't watched his streams since and it seems like not much changed. Him bitching and moaning for 12 hours straight because he's a miserable fucking person.

First 30 seconds and I'm already annoyed by his characterization of events.
"A family member became worried due to the sensationalism going on and I cleared it up for them"
DD is always the guy clearing things up without ever being specific or actually clearing anything up.
But more importantly "the sensationalism".
DD literally talked about having suicidal thoughts and briefly discussed having a plan which outlines what Julian should tell everyone after DD kills himself which Julian then confirmed was true.
I find it very hard to sensationalize the events of that stream any more than DD already did and yet it's always on other people.
I'm not even accusing him of lying, just that he said some really crazy shit which in and of itself made the stream a big deal.

There's an article in the Irish Independent corroborating the story about him jumping into Wexford Harbour and getting a wound on his foot. The article also confirms it was in relation to him agreeing to jump if Italy won the world cup in 2006, which was indeed the outcome, so we can date it that far back as well. And he also owned property called The Potato Market where he sold produce and was hosting a watch of the World Cup finale at the time. His wife was likely an athlete known as Fionnuala Staples. A separate article in the Independent confirms The Potato Market suddenly closed shop and he fled the country after a string of bad debts in October 2006. As far as I can tell he was last spotted as having some kind of management role in a restaurant called Mister Percy in Pyrmont, Sydney. Maybe someone should pay the fella a visit and ask him how he's getting on?"

I think Ding Dong intentionally doesn't upload these VODs to cover his tracks about opening up to these things. It makes sense why he's suddenly kinda backtracking and saying this isn't as bad as he made it out to be in this stream and things got better. Because he was sure as shit going off about these people who betrayed him and then just going back on what he said with "yeah they slowly came back though and started being cool with me again". Very peculiar behavior. Maybe people would better understand this if he just, I don't know, uploaded the fucking VOD?
