That whole thing made me unreasonably annoyed. Like logic always goes out the window for hypotheticals but Ding Dong kept going on about how you can't clone memories or how if Hitler was small he wouldn't be a "perfect copy" which isn't the point of the situation.

But it made for a solid arc.
 
If DD really did have to deal with extreme abuse as a kid like he says then I have unlimited sympathy for him. But at the same time imagine how irritating it must be to know or live with someone with a permanent victim complex. People might genuinely want to help DD but if they push him too hard they risk being seen as an abuser. Aside from Chris lightly ribbing him, or DD sarcastically criticizing himself (implying that the audience's criticisms of him were unwarranted) I can't remember a single time when he was legitimately called out by the people close to him for being negative or overly dramatic about something that didn't warrant his response. Even before I knew everything about DD outside of Oney I could tell when he was in a rotten mood on an LP. The biggest tell was him talking about his ear infection and how he did nothing to try and fix it. As an uninsured Amerifat I dealt with an ear infection with a $150 urgent care visit and $50 in painkillers and antibiotics. I had the deafness, discharge, and knife-in-brain pain that he did, I just decided to fix it before I went deaf or the pain drove me crazy. $200 is probably steep for poor indie devs (they were poor at the time at least) but I doubt DD's friends would let him suffer over a few hundred dollars, all he needed to do was ask if he really didn't have the money. I guarantee Chris and the others offered some sort of advice or help that he ended up turning down so he could keep the persecution complex running. He sure as hell wouldn't stop mentioning it so it's not like nobody knew he was sick.

tl,dr: DD needs to ditch the victim complex and Julian needs to put his foot down eventually and wrangle the little drama queen. Trigger Treat never, Nighmare Cops and Bowlbo will come out before Tough Bippy

A clone would not have the same memories. Unless explicitly stated that there's memory backup downloads or something like that, the clone is a new organism with a new blank brain (and we're not even taking into account that a clone would grow in real time; you wouldn't have a clone your own age unless there's artificially accelerated aging or something).

And even after all that, Perfect Clone Hitler with artificial accelerated aging and memory backup download (tiny or full size) IS STILL NOT THE REAL HITLER AND IS NOT GUILTY OF THE REAL HITLER'S CRIMES AND IT'S UNETHICAL TO TORTURE HIM
 
It was really funny and stupid how Chris insisted it was okay to torture the clone because he had the memories of the original.

Pretty sure he was serious also.
 
Dumbass question completely unrelated but who highlights the posts in here?

Also correct in that DD has a huge victim complex and I don't know how Julian handles it but clearly he does in stride and that in itself is respectable since not a lot of people have patience for that stuff, especially nowadays.

Ok but what if like you had the real Hitler captured alive awaiting trial but then he kills himself and uploads his brain to a clone he has and he says that because he's a clone he didn't actually do anything therefore you have to let him go scot-free.

Thanks for the help, I had no idea how that worked. I always thought a mod or OP highlighted shit manually for some reason???

I never even knew that qas a feature tbh, I thought the rates were just a way to show agreement or to make fun of others autism

Depends: did he copy his memories 1 for 1, or did they take his brain out and put it in the new body?

1 for 1 copy goes free, he believes he's the real Hitler and that his consciousness is the same but its not, the real Hitler died with the brain death of the original, the clone committed no crimes. If the brain was put into the new body, the original consciousness who committed the crimes is in the new body and is allowed to be tortured.

Reminds me of this cool show I watched where the people were technically immortal because they could regrow any part of their body, but they would "kill" their own by destroying the brain because even though the head and brain will grow back with the same memories, the consciousness of the person before their brain was destroyed would be dead, even though the new consciousness of the brain that grows back would feel like he was the same person and that they managed to survive.

It's a new brain but they used nazi science to upload the exact brainwaves to it just before he died, and though he won't admit it, he's probably going to try again.

because they are calculated by the average post rating of the page. if there are 6 posts and only 1 has 5 winners, and every other post has NO reactions, the 5 winners post will be highlighted. However, if the other 5 posts get 3 winners each, then the original post is no longer highly ranked by the average and will stop being highlighted.

bear in mind all of these numbers I pulled out of my ass, I don't know the actual calculations the forum uses, as evident by the fact my post got 5 winners above and still isn't highlighted, but from my observations, this is how it works. anyone is free to correct me, but I'm fairly certain I'm right.
 
To my knowledge, it determines highlights based on significant local maximas for a thread, so the number will vary from thread to thread, and even within a thread over time based on the scores. In a thread where most posts get 2-5 ratings, one with 15 will probably get highlighted, whereas on a thread where most are getting 15-20, a post with 30 may or may not get highlighted.

I've also noticed that it also depends on how fast a post is rated. A post that is rapidly gaining ratings shortly after its posted is weighted higher.
