I've also seen an interesting theory that a huge part of Undertale's success was the fact that Homestuck was on a giga-hiatus for almost the entirety of Undertale's kickstarter and release, so all the energy of the rabid homestuck fans drove Undertale forward like a nitro boost.
What's a genuine bummer is I think Sans is actually really cool and fun, but it's impossible to talk about him with the fandom connotations. I just want to like the chill strong dude who fights as a last resort trope in peace.
Agreed, and personally I think people get way too wrapped up in what guests Chris has on. They're just his friends that he wants to hang out with.

jack is good at what he does but the mega-retarded zoomie editor who "processes" most of his content makes it unwatchable. every other second there's a giant vineboom or other childish soundeffect, a zoom in or out of jack's face, some kind of graphical overlay, a cut to a stale meme, etc etc. it's the absolute worst. whereas lixian (or the team that's currently represented as lixian) has just the right touch-- enhancing the video without drowning it in adhd sludge. less is fucking more
I remember some of the edits in one of JSE's scariest videos on the internet videos were actually well done. I recall one specific where it was a "doppelganger" of jack standing in the background just sort of staring in the corner Blair Witch style but it was really subtle and I hardly even noticed it.
Marker Plier is not great at comedy from what I've seen of his two films, but I think he doesn't want to remembered as the guy on YouTube who made dumb faces while playing horror games, much like Jerry Lewis. We'll see what his version of The Day the Clown Cried will look like.
