I like the mewgenics playthrough but otherwise yeah I agree. I checked out of the arc raiders series after the first episode. It wasn't bad just kinda boring. Mewgenics on the other hand isn't really as funny as it could be either but the insights from Edmund keep it enjoyable.

I think we have to accept that just like a TV series, a channel will get worse over time. Especially since Tomar is busy being a dad, and Zach is focusing on Smiling Friends. Plus I think every let's play channel or just a channel that's been up since 2009 that still uploads regularly has their own thread in here because the person became a lolcow or they're still holding on to a ship that has already sunk.
 
There's quite a few videos they've done on games I quite enjoy, some even got multiple episodes(!), but I just cannot get over my back-seat-gamer tism enough to actually enjoy them. Why can't they git gud and watch "good game is good" video essay number 126430425 to understand the lore? (:_(

It took that first episode of mewgenics for me to tism out. Chris is actually too adhd-brained and retarded for any kind of tactics games
 
Chris enjoying music on a deep autistic level but not being able to sit through or parse 5 seconds of baby friendly instructions will always be both funny and infuriating
 
I have a bit of a weird theory that maybe Chris is winding the channel a little because he's looking for work more actively. Maybe trying to find another studio for help with bowlbo? Potentially wishful thinking on my part I'll admit, but it could be true. That or the backpain has buckbroken him.

Typically I'm not bothered by Let's Players sucking ass at games: if I was I would not be watching this channel anymore. I used to imagine the type of people who really get mad at bad gameplay are just retards who lack Theory of Mind: you can see it when Cory and commenters got mad at PvZ when Chris and Dave tried out different plants and placements. Autists don't understand that Chris and Dave don't know what the autists don't. The Mewgetics episodes have made me reassess this idea since YOU JUST GOT EQUIPMENT WHY DON'T YOU CHECK YOUR INVENTORY YOU FUCKING IDIOT. I hope they avoid RPGs: Chris and company cannot engage with a game that has a menu beyond "Press A to Start." The best series have all the players engaged in the game (Bing Bing Wahoo, Sonic, Resident Evil).

RPGs have historically been a death pit of entertainment for let's players because it's just reading, slowed down combat, and grinding. There has to be a unique angle to keep people engaged through hours of padding text boxes. I remember SBFP fans making it a meme how bad their RPG let's plays, like Chrono Trigger and Pokemon were.

The peak of that was their Persona x Fire Emblem LP, where viewers of that were literally calling themselves “the 2700.”
