Huh, video seems to have been pulled. And by the uploader, not because it was claimed or anything.
It was probably the work of Tomar - who has a heart so black that he can't let Oney have any praise - even from those he pokes fun at. What a truly evil monster.Huh, video seems to have been pulled. And by the uploader, not because it was claimed or anything.
My name is Tomar and I use DuckDuckGo with private browsing, they'll never catch me nowIt was probably the work of Tomar - who has a heart so black that he can't let Oney have any praise - even from those he pokes fun at. What a truly evil monster.

I don't believe it. I laughed at something Doug said.Mirrored by someone on Reddit.
It’s a game that thinks it’s way smarter than it is. And that’s ignoring any time it contradicts itself, spins its wheels for no reason, or outright lies to you(the androids entire speech and even its dungeon isn’t even the truth, so it’s the “find the record” all over again.I haven't as been as bothered by watching YIIK's gameplay on the series as a lot of the posters in here but jesus fucking christ the monologuing in this episode is finally starting to break me too. The writing was always unfocused and uneven but this is the point where I commend the boys for hanging in there on this tedious game. The environments and models of the game are quite nice and there's some interesting ideas and scenarios here and there but every ounce of goodwill a player might have for the game will get sucked dry till only a barren husk is left. Earlier I could've seen this resonating with people if it came out earlier around the middle of the indie game craze. It wouldn't have been my thing, but I could see it being charming to some audiences. But I don't think even the biggest android simps could take that monotonous repetitive monologue seriously
The problem with this scene is that Alex immediately has a monologue about how he was so sure that Michael lived in that house and everything is confusingIt leads to some understated moments like Michael suddenly living in a different house, which you could brush off as a continuity error or interpret it as a sign that we changed to another reality recently.
This whole thing just reinforces to me that YIIK should have stuck with one idea for the plot. It's trying to tell a story of not letting yourself get obsessive over internet mysteries with Sammy, and also trying to tell a meta reality hopping story at the same time. Personally I would've preferred the first idea, as that's a really cool message for modern twitter times, but either would have worked if these stories weren't trying to force themselves on top of the others, Sammy is forgotten as soon as the record quest ends so that the Essentia can come in, but the Essentia is also lying and Sammy has to leave the reality with you in the second ending? The game has some interesting ideas, particularly the reality hopping. It leads to some understated moments like Michael suddenly living in a different house, which you could brush off as a continuity error or interpret it as a sign that we changed to another reality recently. It's even implied that Alex shares the same soul as Claudio and Chondra's missing brother, like Vella and Sammy do. Since only one version of a soul can exist per reality, it's implied that the brother's disappearance is because of Alex's existence in this reality.
If you're paying attention then these aren't hard to spot, but the fact that Alex doesn't look at the camera and scream when these revelations become apparent makes them more satisfying to figure out. Not that I blame anyone for not paying attention after hours of inconsequential verbal fluff.
The Essentia exposition dump is a perfect crossroads of several problems with Yiik. The fact of the matter is that sometimes in games you need to sit your player down and explain stuff. The problem? It's boring. The best way to explain the problem with Essentia cutscene would be to watch a good exposition dump.I'm surprised Chris wasn't broken by YIIK's writing sooner. He sounded genuinely fed up at the end of the episode and I don't blame him asking the editor to summarize whatever the fuck was going on with the Essentia 2000 on his behalf.
YIIK's plot would be way more palatable if it just dropped the verbosity (and Alex's weird pretentious monologues). The story would still be dumb and incoherent, but at least it would be easier to meme on an otherwise frustrating game.
The robot is also lying her ass off in that scene, so the lore dump is doubly stupid because it’s not true at all.The Essentia exposition dump is a perfect crossroads of several problems with Yiik. The first big difference is the length. OoT's cutscene is 2 minutes long and you can't even speed it up. Yiik's cutscene is about six minutes give or take. And to add to that the immediate next area has another exposition dump. The Great Deku Tree continues to talk to you in OoT but it's short and it was after a much shorter cutscene.
Another major difference is OoT is interesting to look at. Let's ignore the writing for a second but so much is shown and happens in the 2 minute cutscene. Why in the world is the Essentia cutscene just Alex and her just floating into space motionless. They could've illustrated how souls work in different dimensions and how dimensions deal with having too many souls. Something else that can break the monotony of the player models spinning around. It's just so lazy. This is also ignoring the sound design of which OoT's is masterful.
Next, the placement of where these exposition dumps happen. OoT's cutscene happens right after the first dungeon. It helps setup the larger world that the player will visit after leaving the forest. The only other comparable cutscene in OoT is when Link first travels to the future and it's appropriate since it's such a drastic change for the player. Yiik's cutscene happens how many hours into the game? How does the world change? Not that much since the player already is getting hints of this info from Vella before.
And lastly, the writing is awful. The developer needs an editor cause you could've cut so many lines of dialogue. OoT's script has far less writing but what is there is memorable and impactful.
Yeah, but that's how you know they're a liar. They made an extravagantly long and overcomplicated story. The robot is also lying her ass off in that scene, so the lore dump is doubly stupid because it’s not true at all.
