Open letter

More than 200 jurists demand initiation of AfD ban procedure - all requirements for this are fulfilled

More than 200 jurists have submitted an open letter with the demand to initiate an AfD ban procedure to members of federal parliament and the federal government. According to their assessment, all requirements for that are fulfilled.

Ultimately, the Federal Constitutional Court would need to decide on a prohibition of the AfD.

Further preparatory examinations are not needed, they say. The representatives need to finally live up to their responsibility, initiator Felix Dengler from the Republican Lawyer Association (RAV). In November, in a legal scientific assessment to the federal parliament, 17 constitutional lawyers have assured that a corresponding petition to the Constitutional Court would likely be successful.

A prohibition of a political party can be petitioned for by the federal parliament, Federal Council, or federal government at the Federal Constitutional Court. In the middle of November, a group of more than 100 members of federal parliament from several parties have presented a petition. Whether it's likely to reach a majority is open. Federal chancellor Scholz has recently spoken against an AfD ban procedure at the current time. He and other critics warn that a procedure would be very time-consuming and the outcome would be open-ended. In addition, there are worries about prohibiting a party with high voter approval.

Why does much of europe fail so hard with freedom and democracy?
We let them. If we’d terminated the first few people who tried to remove our rights, and then the next few who tried, and then the next, we’d still be OK. We didn’t. We let them take our guns and our free speech and we punished the ones who said this would happen.

the Little League band the guys entire political party declared the election illegitimate and if for some reason no one seems to be interested the fact that Romania is just become an authoritarian one-party state

The official American position as announced through the defacto state media (Reuters and Associated Press) is that "Russian interference" discredited the elections and the court in Rumania made the right decision to throw out the results to save democracy. There was also criticism of the "weakness" of the Romanian state and its institutions for not being able to identify the "Russian interference" earlier and thus forcing the court to step in.

We are told that Rumania's elections were targeted by Russian "hybrid attacks" which are said to be very difficult to detect or even prove. But that this was another direct attack on NATO and that the US & NATO have to stand firm in overturning an election to save democracy.

We are also told that many Rumanians not properly understanding the situation will be upset. But that they need to understand the need to save democracy.

They are not even pretending anymore. I wonder how much longer they can keep the lid on everything in Europe as a whole.

It is a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that most of those dipshits on the internet back in the 2000s who smugly told you "slippery slope is a fallacy" are getting sent to labor camps.

So, they realize by banning them that will make they more powerful than they can possibly imagine, right?

They understand this essentially guarantees the rise of the 4th Reich before 2050, right?

I wonder what Hitler 2.0 will look like... If we're lucky it will be a Kitler

This is despotic anti-democratic authoritarianism by any other name. It is beyond corruption at this point. It is a multi party dictatorship, simple as that...

I'd argue that kleptocratic oligarchy fits better.

This is despotic anti-democratic authoritarianism by any other name. It is beyond corruption at this point. It is a multi party dictatorship, simple as that. No use calling it anything but. Not just the parties but the system as a whole. The fact that it was setup as is expressly to disenfranchise people the elites don't like, and done so openly, as a feature.. is proof enough of that.
Don't call it a multi-party dictatorship because many dictatorships had/have multiple parties. There's 8 parties you can vote for in China. There's 3 parties you can vote for in North Korea. There were 4 parties you could vote for in East Germany. Hell even in Nazi Germany you could vote for "independent" candidates who weren't members of the Nazi Party. Modern Germany is one step from doing the same, since parties which are theoretically rivals all collaborate to shut out any opposition from having any influence and often are officially united in governing coalitions. For all intents and purposes, the main political parties in Germany that aren't AfD are one party.

Because Europe's view of freedom and democracy is rooted in the French Revolution which says freedom and democracy are only possible via brutal suppression of political opponents. This is reinforced of course by Karl Marx, who I should note was literally involved with the German Social Democratic Party which to this day still exists.

The US should put sanctions on Europe until they stop this nonsense, just like they do with other dictatorial regimes.
