I’m still running whatever version of Yuzu I installed via Emudeck on my steam deck a few months before they got taken down. It works for now, but I should probably look into changing it.

I've switch over to using suyu since its based off the last version of Yuzu EA and stuck to it since most of my games work.

Whether this means they have already made meaningful changes or that they will simply start accepting push requests remains to be seen.

For now they only really need to just change the logo and name and pop out a build, some people seem to think that a group of volunteers can just whip up huge changes in two or three days. Things take time, for now their probably just going to ride main and add other changes as they see fit.

i don't think the creators are specifically involved in the outrage towards the fork, it's more that the community of CoCsuckers is losing it over someone exercising the rights provided by the MIT license for reasons they deem wrong.
in truth, i don't think the usual godot user, hell, even most of the rabid rainbow hair ones, actually care about the icky nerdy details of godot. they'd use it all the same if it was closed source or ""source available"", what matters is that it is less worse than unity (most of the time anyways, and none of the time if you use C#) and the ideological bent to it is quite attractive. of course as this thread shows, both codexisters and chuddevs may find licenses appealing for very different reasons and/or motives.

I think the real takeaway is this effectively scares off current Switch emulation devs from working on Switch 2 emulation.

1. Get to work for years on an awesome project that’s very educational and exciting and challenging
2. New challenges from new hardware and new games
3. Praise and thanks from millions, possibly even something like a patreon
4. Get a massive buyout from Nintendo

Man, I have not seen a project shoot themselves in the foot so cleanly. And I was singing the praises of Godot as well.

I think Redot has a chance of usurping the project, for the same reason people wanted to move to Godot from Unity in the first place. They are working with people who are interested as a business, and trust is more important than short term interests. And it's better to have someone you can trust to he shit than someone you can't trust at all. The actual issue (increasing fees, woke marketing, etc) don't really matter compared to the fact that they can change the rules at any time. If you are developing a game for 2+ years or more? That is not even on the table as a possibility. Making shit tweets and banning people on twitter is one thing. Banning them from the repo is a whole other level of mess. Especially for how mild the criticisms were.

Also, I love it when they pull "everything is political." It's so good at peaking people. They tell people they need to have an opinion, and then they are surprised when the opinion most people pick is "fuck you."

In my sincere opinion, all people had to do was not reply to that "Wokot" post. The best way to "hurt" these "individuals" is by obscurity and isolation. Nothing hurts a genderspecial than being left with 0 likes and 0 views. It's a passive way of making them learn and understand that not everybody supports them without getting your hands dirty with hundreds of posts in autistic twitter slapfights.

Not calling it out is exactly how we got here. They do not think this way. In their own words, silence is compliance, so when you say nothing, it means you automatically agree and they should push further, which they have been doing for years. O likes and 0 views just means that everyone did not need to see it or like it because they innately understand and agree. They are creatures without shame.

And because they are always on offensive, every action you take needs to be defended. Using Redot, even if you did it because you wanted to not make a choice, will by nature be seen as a choice that puts you on a side. Even continuing to use Godot will also be a "side."
