I still like Mozilla best but man I'd drop them so quick if a new competitor supported all their extensions. And 20 years later, it's still got memory leaks.

If Mozilla had taken a handful of different decisions, Firefox might be my top software ever. It's served me so well, especially as I came from the AOL browser all those years ago, but it's like they want to push us away.

i looked into it myself but couldn't find any hard evidence besides one paper by jan rutkowski now being attributed to joanna rutkowska like it says on the attached picture.

there are talks from both jan and joanna on youtube but the quality is too bad to really tell if it's the same person for sure and as unlikely as it is, joanna actually passes as a woman.

i have never seen a stealth tranny this great before, there is no mention of trannyism in relation to joanna at all, and all mentions simply say woman like you normally would (which trannies rarely get right). it has been almost 20 years since joanna showed up, so i'm surprised that i can't find any hard evidence.

as little as all of this really matters, i want to be sure that unicorns are not real, and if joanna is a tranny that brings the number of female security researchers from a grand total of 1 down to a more realistic 0.

Yeah, he's a tranny. His real name is Jan Krzysztof Rutkowski which showed up in some papers and talks early on, but he managed to scrub his old name almost completely from the Internet. It still survives on a old version of his article on the Russian Wikipedia: Link/Archive

I do too although occasionally there'll be something I stumble across and I like to be prepared vs switching browsers for a video.

I believe LibreWolf just has Widevine L1 support when you enable, which is limited to 720p. The higher resolutions depend on keys, that on mobile are often stored on hardware, that LibreWolf and such aren't allowed to bundle.

I would hope widevine is on its way out anyway, it's been broken by the scene for ages and AnySoft cracked it a couple years ago (I think they're gone now, the AnyDVD guys). Even then it'll sadly probably just be supplanted by more DRM.

And Mozilla has yet another blunder, this time regarding their K-9 Mail takeover regarding data collection. After K-9 Mail existing for a decade without telemetry. Mozilla since their takeover will be using opt-out data collection vs a opt-in. Again Mozilla says privacy is their top concern and they need it to get useful data for development. Disregarding many OSS projects have opt-in data collection that works for various projects. They are really trying to go down the Google route.

Discussion on the now closed Github issue includes the data collection violating GDPR. Asking for an initial setup prompt for opt-in data collection vs default opt-in. Mozilla violating their own terms set for 3rd party add-ons. Mozilla in all their wisdom ignores these ideas/suggestions while closing the issue.

Its chromium based, so no thanks. Not even because of the Google aspect, I just really don't like chrome. I find its even worse than Firefox when I have dozens of tabs open and that's saying something. I also just don't like its design language, and chromium dominance is bad for the web so given the alternative is just as good, on every platform and I was using it before Google was a thing, I'll stick with it.

I wouldn't mind giving an entirely new browser a go, depending on extension ecosystem

Other than some periods of using Safari and Camino (which was basically pretty OSX Firefox anyway), I've used it for 20 years now so I've optimised my setup pretty good. That's why a browser that supported Firefox XPIs would be such a winner.

There is nothing wrong with using the engine. The problem is the people in control of it. Instead of using their very limited budget to finance improvements of their engine, or their time to polish it further… they use it on frivolous bullshit such as hiring some retard golem social media manager.
The truth about ditching the engine, is that it’s what they want. They want their community to be a bunch of wholesome people who don’t dare to ever say anything negative about the faggots. Do not give these people praise nor money when they clearly would misuse such rewards.
Unlike unity, you won’t be forced to pay them if a project is successful.

now, before anyone throws trashcans my way, think about it for a moment. if the goal is just to fuck around and make shit happen on screen quick, might as well pick the real software, not the one it desperately tries to be.
besides, if you just want to get a taste for it to figure out if you want to get into gamedev more, most of it is transferable, and not monetized anyway. so it really doesn't matter if the unity-jews might fuck you over for more shekels that shit was overblown anyway, it's just old-fashioned greed. whereas getting into godot the progtards and troons are probably more interested if you have kids to groom than helping you out...

simply pick the right tool for the job.
