Still evil. They attacked a US Naval vessel and lied through their teeth about it. That should have been a straight up act of war. Japan did that, and we dropped two nukes on them, but Israel got a pass? Fuck that.
I will never understand how the USS Liberty incident is somehow so shocking and shit. The US has routinely had friendly fire incidents throughout it's military history. The Israeli pilots misidentified a US ship and fired on it. It's tragic that people died, but acting as if this is somehow wholly unique is ridiculous.
Let's use more recent examples from Iraq and Afghanistan where Americans:
- Shot down a British Tornado in Iraq
- A-10s attacked British recon vehicles also in Iraq
- The Tarnak Farm incident, where a US pilot killed 4 Canadians
- Operation Medusa, where an A-10 strafed NATO forces, killing 1 Canadian and injuring 30 more
- A F-15 bombed the British troops it was sent in to help support, killing one.
But hey, that's just with the benefit of modern technology and shit. The Americans were fighting in Vietnam at the time and would never accidentally misidentify their own ships....
Oh shit, look at all these acts of war by the Americans against the British, Australians, Canadians and themselves. Or, you know, war is a messy business and friendly fire incidents happen.
