Jesus Christ. I knew people hated it and I knew cartels were involved, but I'd didn't know the actual main character was a narco. Women were complaining about the terrible Spanish and the misrepresentation of the culture, that I guess didn't really focus much on this aspect.

The most hilarious part is that Juan Gascon’s nomination pushed out a black actress who was expected to get nominated, Marianne Jean-Baptiste. She had won a ton of critics’ prizes and was expected to be a frontrunner against Demi Moore if she’d gotten in.

Crash for Worst Best Picture winner

There have been worse winners than Crash. Maybe not in the 2000's though. Crash wasn't competing against anything particularly great either.

On that note I still find it funny seeing the occasional article upset at Driving Miss Daisy winning while the thoroughly awful Do The Right Thing wasn't nominated for Best Picture at all and didn't win anything else.

Hell it's very funny Karla is nominated for Best Actress when Emilia Perez is a supporting character while Zoe's character is the actual lead.
