Oh they do, they just treat the transition as a rebirth that every bad thing that the Cartel Boss did as a man was a different person's actions, yet they still enjoy the wealth they have as a cartel boss and happily abuse their power for non-cartel related activities.
Keep in mind, Emilia Perez's target demographic are coastal elites and old people who think this movie is some enlightening conversational piece because it's about mexico and transgender people.
Mexicans hate it for how the FRENCH director acted like they knew everything about Mexico, the casting director saying there are no talented mexican actors, romanticized a Cartel Boss, the music and spanish performances being bad, and being out of touch with Mexican culture.
Transgender people hate it since Emilia Perez as a character is just a negative stereotype, having no real identity struggles, the garbage songs (mainly the PENIS TO VAGINA song, the Israeli doctor song, and the Smells like Papa song), and on top of it being Mrs. Doubtfire with cartels.
In short, Emilia Perez is the 2024 version of Crash, another out of touch movie that is more stereotypical of people it claims to represent while hated by them that only appeals to Hollywood elites thinking that giving this trash awards would make a difference in the face of a Republican Administration.
