So glad a WOMAN won a congress seat in GA! This is the first time to my knowledge that this has happened.

Imagine if that $30 million went into making Georgia a better place. Replacing infrastructure, updating schools, providing shelter, food and employment services for the homeless. Just an idiotic amount of money to throw away on a meaningless political campaign that you didn't even win.

Apply that nationally and you have succinctly stated why the American political campaigning circus is very, very broken. A fuck ton of money wasted on fuck all.

People choosing to spend their money on whatever they want, including useless and pointless shit, is at the core of what makes America the greatest country on Earth and why our system leads for the best prosperity possible and therefore uplift all of society with it. Socialism is the equal redistribution of misery and nothing more. Our ability to spend our money whichever dumb way we want to is only equalled by our willingness to turn around and mock the fuck out of people do it in the dumbest way and shame them for it.

Which is why the idea that people donated almost $50m dollars (on top of celebrity endorsements and air time devoted to it nationally) to lose the election by many points and only gaining 9% on a guy who spent less than a thousand dollars last time in a fucking democratic stronghold for a hundred years is

well it's the fucking best

So he apparently blew $30 mil, how did he run his campaign? Was it the standard "I'm going to improve the state, build infrastructure, have 100% graduations from school, and a free unicorn delivered on each person's birthday" or was it more "Look at all the rich celebrities telling you to vote for me and if you don't, you, personally, are a horrible person"?

You know which one it was because of the letter next to the name

Oh and while we're at it, it's a dumb thing to say 'All of that money could have been spent doing [charity thing] instead of being donated to [useless thing]' in this case. Look at any survey or research on this kind of things and you'll see that it's Republicans who donate to charity, not Democrats. They believe the government should be in charge of it, so why should they give their own money?

So that money would have been spent on yuppie shit or video games (depending on the age of the donor) and not to actually help better the world.

Shit, millenials are the ones who buy the most into the global warming alarmist bullshit since they've been brainswashed since the cradle about it, and yet they are not willing to spend more than $10 to fight it lol.

That nigga didn't even live there and couldn't even vote for himself lmao

:story:

I don't think they know what winning is anymore. IMO the last great Democratic candidate/president was Kennedy (not counting Clinton cuz you could throw a chimp in as president and the result would pretty much be the same. No way anyone could fuck up the 90s).

I think after Obama's reelection they seriously thought they could win every election in the future by doing nothing and now their genuinely unsure how to proceed.

Via the Atlantic
But it was in Georgia, in this well-off, well-educated suburban district, where Democrats had focused their attention, in a much-hyped battle that attracted the hopes and donations of activists across the country. Though both Ossoff and Handel tried to avoid it, they were cast as proxies in the national partisan fight, with enough hype and money—more than $50 million, or nearly $100 for every potential voter—poured in to make it by far the most expensive House race in history.
Bolded the best parts. They focused on a educated well off district because "gerorgia is full of dumb uneducated poor people who vote for Pmurt cause they're dumb!"
And $100 per voter. Shit gimme $20 I'll vote for you. They fucked up.

From an MA congress person. Don't get excited, I think he's said this before.

This, they thought the election of Obama meant white conservatives had become a minority at last and they no longer had to care about appealing to moderates, all they needed to do was choose what snowflake they'd pander to this cycle, since they were bound ro win.

Sally Kohn of CNN (discount Maddow) says that this election means the Democrats should move further left and abandon centrism all together. I think this woman should be the head of the DNC to save Republicans money in elections.

That's just mind-boggling. I don't know if that's a popular Democratic opinion of late, but if it is then I don't understand what they're thinking with that; It's not the Republicans that caused them to lose the election, it's all the people who voted for Obama in 2012 that didn't vote for Clinton in 2016. How can they not see that and realize that they need to regain those voters by abandoning the fringe identity politics and moving more into the center?

Because ever since organized labor fell apart in the 1980's, fringe identity politics are the sole differentiating factor Democrats have from moderate Republicans. Both parties are completely owned by large corporate donors. Look at the ACA - Obama had a supermajority and more or less told Republicans to shove it, but was forced to nix the public option because his own party didn't want to piss off their existing funding base. They aren't going to move in a more socially liberal, economically populist direction unless they're dragged kicking and screaming.

$23M and they still lose, my goodness. When will the Dems learn that pouring money, invoking social justice, and using phony candidates is causing them to lose everything?
I mean really, just look at this:
State_Legislatures.png
And I was the one who thought that the Republican party would be obsolete regardless of whether or not Trump won.
Here's how Bernie can still win
