Overwatch

One of my favorite streamers was playing OW today, and it seemed as though the shields were a lot less potent. They were able to roll out without having to shoot through 3 layers of shields first. Did they nerf them, or is it just my imagination?
Depends on game mode, but I've not been seeing many shield heroes used (except Sigma) after coming back to the game a month ago. Pretty much avoided the 2-2-2 format

yeah, they shit all over shields a few patches ago i think. rein's shield got nerfed from 2000 health to 1200 and everybody else's almost got cut in half. winston still has a 900 hp bubble i think, though.

I also dig support. I just think it's a change of pace from alot of other fps games. I like how you have to work constantly on your positioning with the cover on the map but also where you can have solid sight lines to heal your teammates and cover objectives, while occasionally picking off an enemy or shield. Like you gotta have a plan, but also a knack for improvisation.

100%. I didn’t know how much multitasking I did as a healer vs as a tank or DPS until I was looking at one of my saved highlights. It’s a lot of work! It was way worse back before role queue when I’d be the only healer on the team, though. I do not miss that shit.

They’re constantly balancing/nerfing/buffing so I wouldn’t be surprised. It’s always awful when a new hero is released into the line up, too.

Yes, all shields did get nerfed. On the plus side though, player sustainability buffs like Orisa's increased defense and Sigma's shield absorb got a boost.

Honestly nice to see they're trying to be more active about balancing, the fact that shit like GOAT has existed for as many seasons of comp is already embarrassing itself. Probably won't go back to the game anytime soon until there's actual content instead of just more cosmetics.

You could still feasibly do cross play between Switch/XBOX/PS4 - if they gave a shit.
Yeah that too but isn't there some graphical difference between the Switch and the other guys? Mainly in regards to framerate and draw distance meaning players and objects would pop in earlier on a PS4 than on Switch also not the mention the Switch's network connection.

I'm not saying it's a good idea - but you could do it. You could just lower the graphics settings (as a developer, not a player) if you're worried about level playing field.

Realistically, I think a lot of players like the seperate leaderboards (4 seperate sets) because it means there are technically 2,000 "Top 500/Grandmaster/whatever" spots available, instead of just 500. I'm sure very few people have the time needed to hold multiple Top 500 spots.

Pie in the sky because mouse and keyboard will stomp in controllers guts everytime.
You say that, but console players usually get moderate aim assist in FPS games (due to the fact that trying to aim with a controller otherwise is like trying to piss while shitfaced), which makes certain characters much easier to use in the hands of a console player. I've had people who've played on both console and PC, and they've all said that the aim assist on console is extremely noticeable.

Getting drunk and playing quick play with a group who is also drinking is fun af. Probably lose more games than we win but hey, we're drunk so it's cool.

Would love to play with some of yall from here but I dont think doxing my psn is a smart idea.

ETA: to the people who were lamenting Reinhardt being nerfed, after the last couple patches I feel like hes probably the best tank in the game right now. When a decent player on my team picks Rein and I back him up with Ana or Lucio it feels unstoppable.

People bitch about Lucioball, but its the one OW game mode where you can carry two idiots.

Tips on winning at Lucioball:
-Don't crowd the goal: Let the goalie protect the goal. A second or a third person does nothing but fuck things up.
-Zoning: Keep the ball on your opponent's half of the arena.
-Self-Control: Don't hit the ball just because you can. If you're going to hit it somewhere non-productive, or take away a good shot from a teammate, just leave it alone.
-Patience: Aim the fucking ball. You don't always have time to line up great shots, but you get more opportunities than you may realize.
-Mechanics: Learn the mechanics of the game mode (the boop-punch combo is a lifesaver). You'd be surprised how many people don't know how to boop the fucking ball, let alone more complex mechanics.
