The game is shit even without the shoehorned gay content. The gay shit just gives people who don't normally play games something to latch onto.
Nobody who plays videogames plays Overwatch. The audience is not people who play games; the advertising for Overwatch does not focus on the game, it focuses on the characters- but their gameplay, their identities, because there is barely a game to play. It's as shallow as you can get for a hero shooter title. The money in Overwatch lies in appealing to people who love these sorts of things and care more about being pandered to than actual gameplay. It's another flavor of people who play games just because they like character designs, and not because of the game itself. That's not to say good character backstories and designs aren't important, it's just bald faced pandering the way Blizzard puts in a quirky they/them Nigress whenever controversy hits. Nobody is going to focus on whatever shallow lore they have either because they have pronouns and that's going to nuke any discussion about them. I'd say it's genius marketing, but OW2 is tanking so hard that I can't even give it the "but it's still working" credit.
Overwatch was always shit and shallow and probably one of the least interesting games mechanically I've ever played when it didn't have gay shit, and will continue to be that way with or without the gay shit attached for all time. It's lab-grown slop with safe huggable Pixar characters for the balding soygut 36 year old with a fat wife who settled for him. You're only just now realizing the game sucks because it's attached to tribes you don't like now.

Overwatch is actually the only AAA failure that makes me sad. I would really want to see a studio work on creating the future version of TF2. That's what Blizzard was working on before they started dumbing down their game halfway into development.
I suppose that's what we got. The future of multiplayer shooter games in a future that's shitty. I don't blame GabeN for not doing games anymore.

Most of the original concept artists left Blizzard for greener pastures. All they have now are bad artists.

I have a theory that Microsoft simply bought ActivisionBlizzard for Activision specifically. There is no way Blizzard will be able to generate $70B worth of revenue.
Overwatch 2 is a massive failure and Diablo 4 was not the success Blizzard had hoped. They have no new IP's to help them here and everyone is sick of their classic IP's.

King was the moneymaker and Activision made more than Blizz. Phil Spencer signaled that he would break up the three subsidiaries and Blizz would have more autotomy but I doubt anything good would come from this since Blizzcon felt like a shitty E3 Microsoft presentation.

That's something that should've happened like a month after the merge between Blizzard and Activision. It's been 15 years since the merge happened and Bobby Kotick took over. Now both companies are just rotting corpses that Microsoft has propped up.

Overwatch was never the future version of TF2.

Overwatch was made from Project Titan, which never got fully disclosed but was a MMO of some type - so 100% not a Team Fortress game. My guess would be (based on the assets) a MMO set in a high fantasy, technology based future - like Anarchy Online or something similar but with retro flare (with Knights, Cowboys, Archers, Monks, etc). My guess would be that the early heroes were class concepts that never materialized (like Tracer being a DPS that can teleport). I'd have to guess they ran into problems with basically everything and then scrapped it and half-assed it into Overwatch because Blizzard wanted a shooter and to try and force an e-sport.

Which was a terrible idea at the onset because if even if TF2 is your favorite game ever - you certainly don't think much of the esports scene for it. It's also the result of 11 years of Valve's dev time - for Blizzard to think "we've got a year or two and some scraps - we can make a better game than Valve did" is peak hubris.

I totally agree. OW is not a finished game at all. They didn't even make any graphics for the capture points. The transparent line that surrounds the control points looks like a remnant from a pre-alpha build that no one ever bothered fixing. The other objectives are just as lazy.

You might feel like Overwatch has less than a dozen maps but they actually have 40. There is no sense of variety because they all feel the same.

Hey Blizzard, if you actually balanced your game and let this kinda thing develop naturally instead of trying to prop this shit up from the word go and balancing around turbo autists, maybe Overwatch wouldn't be as much of a dumpster fire. It'd still be one, don't get me wrong, but maybe not as bad of one...

I never read his/Baptiste's short story, but from what I understand he basically was a heavy assault when he worked for Talon? So it makes sense lore wise he'd be similar, like how the snipers are basically Widowmaker, with the grapple and all. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
Speaking of, have they even put out those OW1 story missions since 2 came out? I liked those...

I reinstalled to play a bit of the Halloween events, but man, it's just not the same. As someone said, not being able to grind for cool Halloween lootboxes sucks. It was almost like trick or treating or something:( the power ups (wait, i thought those were too hard to implement hmmmm?) In the newest Halloween mode were neat for about 2 games.
Been playing a bit of QP here and there with a friend, and the matchmaking just keeps getting worse and worse. It's literally stomp or be stomped, no in between. I actually don't mind the sombra rework. Surprise surprise, I actually sucked ass with her, I'm so sorry, my beloved but I managed to hold my own with her new kit the few times i was forced to dps. I tried Illari or whatever her name is, and she's boring as God damn shit (also literally who is she? There's a handful of cool bg characters from the comics I wish we'd get instead of bloating the roster with random nobody OCs. give me Linx17 or something ffs)The skin kikery genuinely makes me sick. And now they're adding a fucking they/them. I think... I'm actually done with this game. I think I can finally let it go.

I did have fun playing a lot of monke in qp though. As a tank main I never really gave him a chance for some reason. If I wanted to dive I'd use ball.

Also if you aren't letting your teammates know your ultimate is exactly 41% charged, you have failed your team.

You didn't even NEED to play the Halloween event mode (or any of them for that matter) to get those special loot boxes.
