Overwatch

So how is this game? I wasn't really too sure about it at first, but it actually does seem interesting.

I kinda want to try out Bastion, Roadhog, Zenyatta, Reinhardt, and MAYBE D.Va.
It's really good I'm not much of an FPS guy but I'm hooked. Just be careful of the sodium intake.

It's pretty okay, but it's not something I see myself dumping over 100 hours into. Really depends on how you feel about most of the classes.
Bastion is kind of shit when you play for real, Zenyatta is absolutely top tier in every regard, Reinhardt can be fun as fuck if you get a little experienced with him, and D.Va was kind of boring for me despite her ultimate being really fun to use. I don't play Roadhog much so I don't know how he is.

One of the most frustrating characters to face if you have the wrong characters to match up against has one of the most heartwarming backstories.
Makes me feel better about Bastion I guess.

Bastion isn't that hard to fight against imho. Only newbs play him and all you have to do really is switch to genji or widow and kill him a couple times until he gets frustrated.
The only hero that pisses me the fuck off is Mei. If there's a good Mei on the other team, it's frustrating as fuck. If there's a bad Mei on your team, it's even worse. Her voice and character is also pretty annoying. You get an absolutely amazing feeling when Mei dies.

I find it hilarious most of the heroes people complain about are easily countered and don't even get played at a competitive level. Bastion/Torb are easily countered by Pharah, 76, Widow, Hanzo, Genji, Junkrat...

Which is why I mentioned with the wrong character. I have no problem using certain characters against Bastion, but some are bad against him.

Am I the only one who thinks the character design is totally generic and kind of bad?

I can see why somebody might think that. In fact, before I really started to play this game and get a better grasp of its universe, I think that was my initial impression as well. The entire art style is rather inconsistent and artistically verbose.

I think the attempts at ethnic diversity are a bit over the top as well. As someone who really appreciates good storytelling, I really dislike seeing physical character diversity forced into works because I believe it strongly detracts from who the character is as a person and only focuses on who they are outwardly (i.e. racially, ethnically, sexually, etc.) rather than who they truly are inside (i.e. what they believe, what they have accomplished, what/who they care about). Also it can just be flat out unrealistic to have such a ridiculously diverse array of special snowflakes all corralled into one unique group of elite heroes.

However, this doesn't bother me in Overwatch as much as it used to once I really looked into some of the characters' backstories. It really does look like the game's writers took the time to truly flesh out who these characters are as people and give them all their own stories beyond their skin colors.

I don't mind the character designs actually, I think most of them are well designed.
I'm not really a fan of costumes like "Djinyatta" or the Bedouin Genji or even "Thunderbird" Pharah because I personally feel that they do not suit them.

I agree on the "legendary tier"outfits. There are some that I like, but most of them are kind of out there. Most of my favorites are the purple-lettered ones. A friend of mine found one of the jester skins for Junkrat in a loot box. He hates it and never uses it because it just looks like the outfit of a Suicide Squad reject.

Perhaps the only character with yellow-lettered outfits that in my opinion actually look better than the standard blue and purple-lettered recolors are Symmetra's, because I can't stand being forced to look at her granny panties any time she's running around in front of me.

My favorite skins for my mains (ones that I own anyway)
Reinhardt: Default, Lionhardt
Hanzo: Default, Okami
Tracer: Default, Slipstream
Widowmaker: Default, Tricolor
Pharah: Default, Security Chief
Junkrat: Default (all his legendaries suck)
McCree: Default (would love to get the Riverboat honestly)
Ana: Default (her young look is cool and wouldn't mind getting it.)

Favorite skins for my mains
Reinhardt: Greifhardt
Lucio: Slapshot
Junkrat: Toasted
Bastion: Omnic Crisis
Pharah: Anubis
Torbjorn: Bla
D.Va: Lemon-Lime (Do the dew)

Played new map, thing is cool, good spots to use Genji, Hanzo and Widowmaker, very narrow places to use D.va and Roadhog, but for some reason when you are attacking inside the castle it became a war of attrition to see who push the payload, there is a place that is a narrow passageway and you have to be there where anyone can shoot you just to move the payload, so bring a Reinhart if you dont want to get raped

Downloaded the FTP demo today.

Haven't gotten much better. Only feel comfortable using Mercy and Tracer so far, and even then I do horribly in actual matches. (Though I guess that's partly my fault because Mercy is such an easy target.) I know this is to be expected for a beginner, but my other team members feel so much more competent and it's embarrassing.

It feels like that at first, but as you play bot matches and level up and all that, you gain knowledge on strategies and become an overall competent player. It comes with the territory, as you play, the better you will overall become. Don't worry. :P
