Overwatch

Not liking the sound of the Mercy changes, especially the solo rez. I get why people are happy with them regarding the whole "Mercy is too easy/one-trick pony" thing but... eh. I feel like they could've just made Valkyrie a separate Ultimate like what they did with Symmetra. Will wait and see though.

Why did they buff Roadhog? Who the fuck was complaining that Roadhog's heal needed to be more powerful?

Roadhog has nothing. Nothing to help his team out besides his hook. He was barely even a tank. If he wasn't going to have extreme shields or CC, might as well have some sort of sustain since they ruined his kill potential. He was only good for punishing whoever stepped out of position, after the nerf he didn't have much of a reason to be picked.

i heard overwatch is colorful, competitive, and inclusive alongside being patched more than 120 times since launch, with seven seasonal events so far
Yes that's correct. Although somewhat outdated since the article was made in July and another event has since come and gone along with patching in a new gamemode.

120 times isn't that high of a bar. TF2 has 623 as of today and WoW has it's own dedicated sub wiki for how many patches it had. To the point where you need to have a separate page for individual years and builds of the game. And this isn't including client builds. (which is an enormous list of its own)

Yes, I've heard this too but maybe most noteworthy is the tenacity and transparency with which Blizzard has iterated on Overwatch over time: it's been patched more than 120 times since launch, with seven seasonal events so far.

I will say I like how much Blizzard is willing to evolve the game as it's aged. Like they completely removed a mechanic of Reaper's (consuming souls of dead players) because nobody played the character and instead improved him to the point where he's more viable. The same with giving D.va a new ability and completely changing Mercy's ult. I like that they're willing to make some of the characters less slow and improve the game but not to an extent where they just continuously add new things. (like in the sense of TF2 where every change had be weak in some way. To the point where even weapons that were flat out upgrades like the sandman eventually got nerfed).

with that many patches (a whopping 120!) within that short time frame of seven seasonal events, they're gearing up to set the bar for post-launch support. but it's also noteworthy that they manage to be colorful, competitive and inclusive as well.

They've stated that the 26th hero is working internally however it's still a long ways off from releasing

https://dotesports.com/overwatch/overwatch-hero-26-playable-blizzard-17408
"Hero 26 is very playable and very fun internally," Kaplan said in a video with IGN's Expert Mode. "It's not coming out as soon as you think, so don't think that's a teaser. Hero 26 is already amazing." Fans have been expecting new details about upcoming Overwatch heroes at BlizzCon in November, but it sounds like Kaplan may have shut that down.

I'm guessing this means that they've gotten the new hero's playstyle working however they haven't developed art assets for it. Similar to how when they were developing Orisa she used Zarya's skin and Bastion's minigun as a weapon until she was ready to release.

Given heroes tend to take 4 months to release I'm guessing that they'll release them in December

Some people are speculating that the next hero will be the Junkertown queen.
They've speculated on this but most of the developers have been really coy about it

They admitted that while Ana and Sombra were ideas they had during Overwatch's development that Doomfist originated as a throwaway line in the trailer and they were blind sighted by just how fervently the fanbase clamored for him. To the point where they developed the hero mostly to please fans. I'm guessing with the Junkertown queen it's going to be the same thing where the fans constantly ask when she's going to become a hero they can play as until they eventually give in.

The last free weekend convinced me I could do decent in local esports with this shit. I'm a two job motherfucker now so I'll prolly get it midOctober.
October's when the Halloween update will be running
