I, too, would love to execute teenagers for acting out. /sneed

But in all seriousness, it's possible these kids might have mental health issues or problems at home if they're acting out so badly that they injure teachers. Or maybe they are just brats... the article is very vague. But instead of being a pussy and saying "the kids hurt me im gonna resign!!11!!11", maybe school staff (such as guidance counselors) could... y'know... try to help the children in some way? The article is very vague so the situation isn't presented.
Then again, the public school system is hell and they only claim that they want to help because if it weren't for those kids' parents paying taxes, the school wouldn't even be funded.
Sorry if this seems A-Loggy.
lol tax payers kids were doing this.

Their mental health issues are they are fucking trash people ignored by trash parents. When you have no parental role, you act younger. No one shames a new born for throwing it's arms when it's hungry. Babies don't have words, if a baby is hungry it will literally hit you to get fed. I'm not faulting babies for this stating a fact. Babies go wah and thrash limbs.

Doing that at 6? Yea, parents dropped the ball.

Is mental health a possibility? Sure ghetto people tend to love to beat kids. Hitting kids shows them that infant lash out is the way to solve things. I'm a softy about child abuse, it fucks you up. It's awful. My heart is out, but reality is, if abused kids didn't mostly over all get over it, we would as a species never made the wheel ffs.

These are abused neglected ghetto trash who were only not aborted because more cash for a single mom piece of trash doing that. When your kid is nothing more to you than a means to an end so you can afford HBO on gov dime, he's gonna be a future prisoner.

I know this post sounds angry, but my anger is because fuck man that is so so disgusting. I don't want to see suffering like this and the fact people are more than willing to do it for a free pay day sickens me. How the fuck can you call me a bigot when I say treat your child decently? Yet I come off as a crazy person.

I guess reality is, I feel so so sad, because taking a group of 2nd graders out back and blowing their brains out is a net win for humanity. It's so sick. But give it 10 years and tell me I wasn't right these animals are just products of evil.

It's this shit that is going to kill the city and it's so dumb they are building etc, Philly will sink in 5 years. There's a lot of burbs that are reasonable priced and the school systems are lord of the flies the congo edition. All those hipsters who "feel the people" and push this shit will not let their kids in these schools and good, no one should send their kid to a philly public school, it's like Kae Sahn but no air strikes. So what will they do? Move. Tax money drops as the home owners in new up and coming areas bail. These young families don't have the cash to afford private and our charter system is just too small.
You'd hope the school board gets its fist out of its ass, but that ain't gonna happen as long as sheboons running it for the past fifty years are still in charge.

Maybe all the new residents will start a carpool and/or bus service to send their kids to the better public magnet schools the same way that tech companies pick up employees in San Francisco to take to shitty office parks in the suburbs to work.

I'd like to point out that the article is not about Philly. It's about Harrisburg, PA which is the Capital of PA.

But if you want to carry on:

"As of the 2010 census, the city was 30.7% White, 52.4% Black or African American, 0.5% Native American, 3.5% Asian, 0.1% Native Hawaiian, and 5.2% were two or more races. 18.0% of the population were of Hispanic or Latino ancestry."
Three Mile Island must have really fucked up Lakisha while pregnant with Tyrone.

Smoking crack helps, too.

My biggest fear in working at schools aren't the students, it's the fucking parents.

One time one of the administrators was having a stressful day because a student was expelled from the next town's school district and the Parent decided to move the kid to another school district to avoid punishment. Needless to say the school found out when they requested records so they had the student escorted to the school where suspended kids go.
That day I heard something I never imagine a School Principle would ever say "You need a license to drive a car but not to procreate" That man was broken that day.

Oops, but from what I know this is a problem in Philly as well. I know recruitment offices are mired in crisis because teens coming out of these schools can't pass the ASVAB which you only need a 30 to pass, but kids are scoring 18 on average. These same kids form bicycle gangs in the city to sexually assault women walking alone or rob people who seem volunerable.

The more vague an article is the more certainty what's being described is ghetto trash. Like @Bassomatic said, these kids come from abusive and neglectful homes, their parents don't give a shit about education of their kids future.

Eh, that's not gonna happen, the families here are starting up and not what I'd call wealthy, both parents working, pulling carpools is not going to happen and the "nice" public district that borders knows their money comes from tax payers and doesn't want philly people sneaking in. Some districts don't care and it's been a battle.

These parents might not have a ton of money to work with but, over all kinda give a fuck about their off spring and will just move. As I mentioned before, it's happened before in Philly and in other cities, we've seen it.

The city is pissing the money away on a dream of this new found economic growth is going to both stay and increase, but don't worry the teachers union has promised raises in!

How do you only get an 18 on the ASVAB? I looked at the practice questions on their website and a practice test and most of it is middle school math, science, and English, and even the technical parts have a lot of questions that most people would already know.

I wonder what percentage of these students are special ed. I've heard that in other districts, even ones nicer than Harrisburg, inclusion of nearly all special ed students mean teachers are faced with violence a lot.

Welcome to public schools in any major city.

Least we have some god damned good food.
So the city is doing well right now on a lot of aspects, theres some old rough areas getting young families hipsters and starting professionals.

It's this shit that is going to kill the city and it's so dumb they are building etc, Philly will sink in 5 years. There's a lot of burbs that are reasonable priced and the school systems are lord of the flies the congo edition. Our public schools are broke anyway it's a no win situation and it's because we just dump money into the cause of the problem.

This doesn't fall under just Philly, many major cities have had this happen to them, hell it's happened to this area before FFS.

Hipsters everywhere. It's really annoying.*sigh*

But the public school system is horrible. And it's been horrible for a long time. My niece and nephew were told to bring their own toilet paper. The school didn't have enough to go around.

The soda tax is supposed to pay for head start (AKA glorified babysitting). But I doubt much of that tax money goes anywhere but into the pockets of local politicians. I don't really believe in pre-k. I think kids that age belong home with their parents. But some of these kids are honestly better off where they at least get a meal and learn something. Some parents just aren't capable of teaching their kids basics like colors, shapes and the alphabet.

Speaking at a school board meeting Monday evening, first-grade teacher Amanda Sheaffer says she has been hit and kicked by her students.

Those little brats are animals unfortunately. But a lot of it has to do with horrible parents that shouldn't have kids. Children that age can be difficult. The teachers can't really compensate much for bad parenting at home. And a lot of these children will just fall through the cracks.

The things I hear these days, I dunno how there are any teachers left. They get shit pay, everyone thinks they are nothing but glorified babysitters, and parents think it's their job to raise their kid, like literally teach them everything, even how to behave or eat in public. Like I'd kill myself if I was forced to be a teacher.

Just give them back to the parents, they can beat the kids to death and get the electric chair. All are a lost cause by that point.

Where I grew up corporal punishment is still a thing so any 1st grader who tried shit half as bad as any of that would be walking around with black lines across their butt for weeks.
Oh if only they did that everywhere else, none of this would be a problem.

For the worst chimpouts, there’s not a lot that teachers can do. If a kid has ADHD, ‘tism, or ODD, it really ties the teacher’s hand in handing out discipline. And even if they do, there’s still 24 other kids in the class that they have to wrangle. Between absent/apathetic parents, greedy politicians, and an impotent administration, Teachers don’t have a snowball’s chance in Hell these days.

This shit is why homeschooling/online schooling has increased and brick and mortar schools have disintegrated as a result. But this shit is also why homeschooling/online schooling is a never-ending nightmare for everyone involved, and it's just fucked up.

I can't help but fear for the future.

I fear it every day.

I don't think it's corporal punishment (which I think is barbaric). There are nations that have banned it in schools* that don't have the issues with education USA schools have.

black lines across their butt for weeks
What the hell do they use that would do that?

*(The USA as a whole has not. It varies by state.)

Unfortunately kids who act out like this almost always come from some horrendously fucked up home situation. Kids aren't capable of dealing with shit like adults, so if they experience, say, the parents putting cigarettes out on them and beating them within an inch of their life or their dad shooting their mom dead right in front of them they're gonna act up in in school, often times horrendously. It's just a symptom of much larger problems, ones the government doesn't usually have the resources to handle properly even if it wanted to.

The whole thing is completely fucked all around.
