Dude, taking down the add-ons server was probably seen as you taking the nuclear option, at which point he felt he had nothing to lose. Probably thought you were never going to restore it. Bet he was fuckin' pissed that you cornered him and tried to use the add-ons server he depends on as leverage, haha.
4. When I did that I noticed out of the corner of my eye that one of the cores on Bismuth (The BinOC Server) was at 100% cause I happened to have htop running. It was Moonchild trying to tar up /etc /home and /srv on a server which has NO Pale Moon related bits except dns zone files which are git controlled and the ONLY reason Moonchild had access to the BinOC server in the first place. I terminated the tar operation and his ssh session to prevent him stealing BinOC Data and Personal Files and locked down his account. THEN I wrote the opening post on the forum.
Uhh... that kinda sounds like it was your own damn fault. Did you give him root access and/or read access to every single file on the server or what? Every server admin with half a brain knows that you aren't supposed to give anyone full read access, especially if you have stuff on there you don't want them to see. Don't you know how to set read permissions up? Relying on the honor system even with a buddy is asking for trouble, because if somebody gets all emotional and there's a temptation to take sensitive material, well... things get out of hand.
5. After another post or two I was banned from the forums.. Yeah so what, big deal. BUT He also banned my repo.palemoon.org account which had all my git repositories on there.. He COULD have merely removed access from MCP org and repos but he knew not only did I have a lot in private repos but MY infrastructure was largely git controlled.
That also sounds like your own fault. For one thing, you should have had backups for your stuff, period. No excuses. That's basic, and at the very least you should have grabbed that shit
before going full retard on the forums and putting the guy who has your repos on red alert. If you're going to stab a guy in the back, at least do it right. Sheesh.
6. Given that and the prior unauthorized access to steal data and still being ignored and threatened on IM and the forum respectively.. I was concerned about him being the dns slave to my dns server so I removed his zones and logged into DE2 and shut down the slave. Given he could have effectively gained control of my domains until the nameservers were changed it was too much of a risk since TRUST had been broken by the prior attempt to steal things that did not belong to him.
7. Given his extremely long TTL on his dns records he let it go HOURS before it all expired and he BOTHERED to restore DNS for his domains. He could have done it well before I was banned from FPMO and RPMO. His claims of damage are false.. No tangible damage has occurred and he HAS everything he needs to run his own shit based off my hard work. He has weekly backups I provided him from 2017 onward as well as the current state of regolith.
Now I see where it's his fault and where he's being dramatic. You're saying he left it down longer than he had to in order to exaggerate to everyone how bad the damage was so his sheeple would throw a pity party for him? I can buy that. Overall, it sounds like you both just got increasingly paranoid, angry, and distrustful of each other with every sign that looked bad, made things about a thousand times worse than they had to be, and pushed every nuclear button you could find. You guys must be fun at parties, what do you do, pull a gun on someone if they get into a drunken fist fight with you?
Instead of my scheme which we planned and refined together to finally end all drama he BOTCHED his release in the guise of a security update.. IF that update was so damned important he could have spun up a 29.x version and actually LET the plan come to pass and everything would have been so nice..
Given how SPECIFIC and WELL CHOSEN his words are and what he is allowing to happen in that thread and WHO he is letting them say shit worse than his distortions and mangling of the facts.. I think this was premeditated.. Moonchild is likely one of only a half a dozen people who know me well enough to predict my actions when very specifically provoked.
I think he planned this from the get go in November when I presented MY plan to him.. I think he wanted out completely but in the meantime people will, in the short term, throw money at him for getting rid of the Evil Toxic Tobin. Then he will cut and run because he has no one that can do what I did. Or he will FIND someone and it will be kinda crappy.. I really dunno.
Either way, I won't be coming back to Pale Moon or assisting Moonzilla in anything.
Well, my dude... it sounds to me like both of you know deep down the project is fucked and you're looking for excuses to pin the blame on each other. Maybe you're right he wanted out, but it seems to me that you also wanted an out and were waiting for him to screw up, otherwise you would have tolerated him and what he was doing like before. Why not this time? Why tolerate him for so many years and then suddenly get fed up and grow a spine? Bet it's because you've finally realized the browser is doomed and you're never going to make it work. It already seemed that way to me back when you were blaming the MyPal people. I mean, all you guys have done is rearranged deck chairs and try to keep the users distracted with excuses. From what I've seen, you clowns made almost zero progress on web compatibility and focused on lots of random shit to make it look like you're doing stuff.
I've been laughing my ass off watching your project. You did the equivalent of digging a hole and then filling it back in, several times. You kept creating problems and solving them to make it look like you were making progress, when you guys have barely done anything real in years other than what you could steal from Mozilla. You basically LARP as software developers and those forum sheeple eat it up. That Moonchild has a cushy gig with the donations for doing jack shit. I wonder if they are only using Pale Moon because they like the drama and showmanship rather than because they see it as a serious browser at this point. Pale Moon is just SeaMonkey for sad furries who hate GitHub for some reason, but with about 100 times more drama and entertainment. SeaMonkey was never this entertaining, so I gotta give you guys props for that.
