Palworld - Everything you have ever wanted from a Pokemon game

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Well, there it goes my plan to take my laptop with a relative to take care of her and play the game.

On my desktop the game runs very well (Ryzen 5 4600, 32GB DDR4 ram, Radeon R580), but on my laptop (i7 6700, 20GB DDR4 Ram, Nvidia m1000m) it refuses to work. I get a black screen upon launch of the game and I have to kill it because in the task manager says it is not responding. I have tried most of the fixes posted on the internet and I have yet to find a solution to this

Checked SteamCharts, and it seems like the hype's beginning to die down, though in this case, we might be reaching the last stretch of the pokeclone cycle until the next big update comes around
That's just the natural player life cycle of nearly all games nowadays. Really popular launch, lots of hype and players, starts to drizzle out after while because most people have an attention span of a goldfish and that reflects in the Steam stats. It'll definitely get a spike when a big new update comes out.
This has always been the case. The real problem is that AAA games have basically zero retention these days. People get suckered in by the marketing, then stop playing after a few days.

The anti-Palworld people are desperate for the game to fail. "It's a flash in the pan! The game will be dead in a few days, a few weeks, a couple of months, six months!"

UPDATE!!

A friend gave me a fix, just add "-ngxdisableota" without the quotes on the launch options on steam for older nvidia cards, the game will crash on the first start up and create a bug log for unreal engine, after that just hit the Relaunch button, it will pop up some errors again and the game will launch normally

It does not look as good as on my desktop, but I can play it on my laptop now!

Likely some social media person getting pissy mad honestly. Something tells me that the people that actually run Pokemon care very little.
Nintendo made PalWorld Voldemort in Japan, Pokémon company are contacting talent agencies and celebs and telling them if they mention PalWorld they will lose all Nintendo brand deals.

Hell if you look at statement from Nintendo themselves they only mention release date and not the game name.

Pokémon Company is afraid. Same applies to western "game journalist" hacks. Losing all those Nintendo releases, free shit and review copies hurt dishonest clones of Jim Sterling.

They definitely care.

Alpha stage, no content of note and progress is slow as molasses. People don't like playing buggy EA titles, memes got stale and attention span is short.

Memes and vitality can carry a EA game so far, to be brutally honest in game models need shit ton of work, AI and pathfinding.

Every single EA game start to bleed if the game isn't updated and fixed. This hype applies to every game even complete ones, for example post pandemic world resulted in Animal Crossing losing players, hell Nookazon shifted focus to pandering OMGWTFBBQ+ crowd and streamers who only occasionally play New Horizon.
(Nookazon was the biggest site for new horizon players to trade items)

Palworld needs to stick to basics, get their shit together, add new pals and more lore to get players back, add shit, servers, moderation and Steam workshop.

This, genuinely, I am constantly running around going, wtf is this doing here.

The zone around the large ice mountain is heaps sus, ancient ruined kingdom on one side, high tech buildingy shit on the other side. The whole design of the world sometimes gives me XBC vibes (Mechonis/Bionis). I must know wtf is going on.

Man, how can you manage to live in a world where you can be so wrong? SMH.
The game as is right *now* is not game of the year material.

Yet.

Given some TLC and a good effort from the developers, the game could indeed develop into a GotY. But only if the devs put their all into such an effort. Thus far, we have modest but good signs of that happening. But it's still early days to tell whether they'll hold true to their commitment or not.

While I am hopeful for the future, I am prepared for the possibility of the devs shitting the bed, or something else happening like being bought up by one of the massive publishers and screwing the game over that way.

The game is a phenomena with a massive playerbase, and I have no doubt that there are some publishers out there that would love nothing more than to gain access to that playerbase to turn the game into a live service mess. Microsoft is certainly a possibility as the most likely, given their past habits of buying up game studios. Sony is also another possible one, if they somehow managed to gain the money needed to purchase the studio and game outright.

Then again, that depends if the devs are a publicly traded company or not. If the latter, we *might* be in good sailing.

If the former, it's only a matter of time before the studio is purchased, then it'll be all downhill from there.

I think last patch really fucked up the game. They need to fix the glitch involving lower catch rates.

Lore would be nice. I want to know about the syndicate more.

As for mods, all of the back door hacks for unreal engine are still there. It's no papyrus or GECK, but there is a Lua injection framework called UE4SS for Unreal engine that lets you modify the game state at runtime. I might mess with it. I'd like to make a mod where lucky passives always convey the size increase even after breeding.

Then again, that depends if the devs are a publicly traded company or not. If the latter, we *might* be in good sailing.

They don't appear to be publicly traded. I didn't even think of that. Let's hope they don't sell out and stay on track. I still believe earnestly that this is GOTY even in its current state. It's a breath of fresh air, and it's selling like hot cakes for a reason.

Is Palworld going to end up becoming the new Minecraft? Microsoft pretty much killed the minecraft fandom that were making all the cool shit. Merchandise wise. I can picture Palworld becoming the next FNAF in terms of selling toys.
FNAF is just for adults, Pals could be marketed to kids too.
Pokémon company are contacting talent agencies and celebs and telling them if they mention PalWorld they will lose all Nintendo brand deals.
Pokemon is arguably the most profitable setting in the world. That's a lot of demand that pals might satisfy

More importantly slowly building the lore how Palapagos came to be and what the hell happened human civilization there, only people living there are PEDA and Poachers along with less than legal merchant here and there. Players are stuck to a single island as a shipwreck survivor from 'who the fuck knows at this point' are Pals ubiquitous on the planet and interests of other factions.
PEDA being a parody of the real thing could be highlighted as hypocrites that are (caging and euthanizing pals)
Poachers being your local friendly neighborhood raiding bands of outlaws pillaging, stealing and burning everything down for the laughs.
Where the fuck the tech comes from, who made it.
Is tree in the center of the island yggdrasil stand in which keeps shit together.
Where the Poachers smuggle organs, raw materials, etc.

It's pretty obvious that alpha-beta stage will be populated by nerds and fans much like pre Microsoft Minecraft buyout. I can see history repeating itself that Palworld will be bought by Microsoft, much like Notch did when he sold the rights and exclusivity. Palworld servers cost fuckton money to run 490k USD per month, without proper cash injection, optional monetization those servers won't last forever.

More importantly to keep players interested when game is out of EA with events, tournaments, contests and active moderation team to deal with hackers and implement AI powered anti cheat that isn't intrusive that installs itself in root system.

I have seen so many games to die when developers stopped giving a shit, cheaters playing against other cheaters.

Palworld needs separate casual side vs seasonal side which would be competitive down the line much like rust instead, where guilds dead march their pals in raids, leaderboards etc.

Casual servers could be mvp with base building with trading with more comfy and relaxed experience.

Combat needs to be refined and balanced if XVSX battles are planned, 6 pals fighting each other will be a clusterfuck at this point in time.

Please tell me the first name during character creation is randomly generated.

You pirated the game, didn’t you? Because Goldberg is the name of a Steam emulator, and on Steam I had it copy my username. So most likely the person you downloaded the game from used that as the emulator’s default.

Agreed. Personally the way I order it is:

1. Fix glitches (Effigy glitch is annoying)
2. Add Steam Workshop support
3. Add better admin tools + cheat detection
4. Add new mechanics (Base priority system plz)
5. Add new lore, flesh out story
6. Add new Pals

I’m currently content over the Pals we have, and feel the better priorities are within fixing the game’s issues and opening it up for modding. Quality first, the playerbase will bring in the quantity (and you can add quality features from mods to the base game ala Minecraft).

I've decided to name my Gorrirat, he's earned the title "BaboonLord"

What you see is a combination of his Angry Mode plus two Ribunnies for their passive ATK increase for all neutral Pals in the party. His attack stat has been maxed out so I'm going to focus on maxing his health and defense next.
Been feeding him any skill fruit I find so he has a variety of skills.
I think he can get even stronger with the Ribunnies. One is condensed out while the other one is only at 2 stars. Since I gimped myself by maxing out my capture rate through the statues, catching the Ribunnies are a pain in the ass since they need hyper balls so I think I'll use Cremis instead.

I really hope that they fix this capture rate bug cause there's no way that a tiny bunny should be hoping out of a mega ball at 90% capture rate. Also, I learned that using the sphere launcher gimps you - balls you launch using it, even when 100%, won't catch the Pal and just bounce right off. Throwing the balls normally catches them.

Even in Alpha there are ching Chong hackers á la rust running around on harder servers and they hog resources one shot or instant capture pals. Pal world need admin tools and ability to hand down game bans, ban repeat offenders who come back with sock accounts, game needs admin tools badly and user tracking. Cheaters on base building games are cancer which need to be chemo'd lest every server turns into comic related

am become fast. Beakon is legit the best flying mount available, simply because he doesn't have a standing/walking animation. If he had either Ferocious or Musclehead instead of BB I could move on to breeding something else to perfection.
Once you unlock rifles, having a defensive mount that saves its stamina for staying in the air to dodge like half of all attacks and tank the ones that hit it is better.
Lovander going allahu akbar at 80% HP. Getting her to spawn is already a pain in the ass, and on top of that the lava present in the Mount Obsidian dungeons can just kill the boss before you manage to reset. Anything that walks and is small in size (Lizzpunk, bomb birds etc.) is going to take around 300 damage per tick.
If someone is certain she also spawns in lower level dungeons where the ground is less on fire, please let me know because she won't know the suicide attack which is learned at level 40.
I have had luck finding Lovander at night in the north-eastern desert. (Read: I blindly stumbled into them) They're easier to see in the sand as well.

What's frustrating about Palworld is that it does have that software suite for banning players. The issue is that it can only be accessed from inside of the game, and only using a plaintext passcode. It would be pretty cool if their dedicated server dropped into a command line on boot. Similar to GMODs does. Then I could type "ban jack" from ssh and action issues on my own.

Oh I know where they appear in the overworld (and the desert is kind of crap for farming because you can easily stumble into two Suzakus, plus Lovander pairs can be really far apart from one another), the Anubis boss area is better for it because they're lower level (19-22?) and spawned with more density. What I had in mind was dungeons.
