To my understanding, Vivian remains a boy.
But instead of an otokonoko, he seems to be more of an okama with the whole "girl's heart" thing, in a similar fashion of Fastiva in Granblue Fantasy (the bearded guy in third pic above) or the ones popping up in the famous manga One Piece. Also I assume the Japanese line and the screenshot in English (the second thumbnail above) are from the same dialogue as I wouldn't be surprised again that English localizers still refuse to faithfully translate.

Anywho, if you see people on both sides of the aisle complaining about those two retailers being sold out of the game it's technically because they never had any stock to begin with and canceled all preorders for the game. Walmart even said that Nintendo isn't letting them sell the game online and anyone that wants to buy it from them has to go to brick-and-mortar stores. I gave the tracks that user's been uploading and it doesn't sound too bad in my opinion, the overuse of trumpets is a holdover from Paper Mario titles like Color Splash and Origami King (the latter being somewhat ironic considering the remake reuses that game's engine) while the synths are being used to lower the game's production costs.

On the plus side, each chapter appears to use its own version of the original battle theme al á Origami King.

Oh, and if you noticed any choppiness in the audio that's intentional on the uploader's part. He did that to avoid copyright takedowns.

Ever since I heard the Rogueport remix from one of the trailers I had low expectations but its still disappointing.
Even Doo liss came out underwhelming.

TTYD and Super Paper Mario had distinct, unusual but really good soundtracks, shame they couldn't recapture that here.
Edit: Listened to more tracks on the channel and Rawk Hawk and Bowser are just straight up worse especially.

Jesus Christ, what the fuck is that lead synth they used? Literally if they just used something similar sounding like from the original, it would've been an acceptable "remastering" of the track, but holy hell does that single-handedly bog down the entire track alone (same thing with the X-Nauts fortress theme).

I loathe the progressive rewriting of everything going on now, but I can't bring myself to be pissed about this because the original Japanese version made Vivian be a crossdresser. They may not be the same, but there's so much overlap between trannies and crossdressers that I struggle to tell the difference. As far as I'm concerned, they can have Vivian because it was that type of character to begin with.

Now that I think about it, the original game felt like it was made for teens as opposed to all ages. Didn't Peach have to walk around an entire stage completely naked while invisible? Even VGCats called that out back in the day.

Not a bad remix, but I can definitely hear the parts where people would appreciate the original version more. This is closer to Origami King's type of composition (which isn't bad for that game since it suits it, but TTYD is a different vibe entirely). I'm glad there's an option to switch soundtracks, it's always shitty when people aren't given a choice. The Spyro Reignited trilogy got this right.
