>the Indian focus tree is a spaghetti of shitty code

Poetic.

New TT on mercenaries and prisoners of war, this is the final one on EU5's core mechanics.

"Now we have gone through the core mechanics we have for Project Caesar. The next few weeks we will go through all the changes that have happened during this year, thanks both to your great feedback and from internal and external testing. After that it's time to go through the mechanics of the different religions, the different situations and the different international organizations we have!"

It's worth noting just how bad the reviews are, by Mostly Negative they mean 74% negative. Seeing not just how poor it is technically, but how stupid some of the trees are (like the EIC letting you buy states that make zero fucking sense) is hilarious, especially in light of: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...empires-release-notes.1730282/?prdxDevPosts=1

Lol.

LMAO even.
This has been their strategy for years, they break things on DLC release and say they will fix it later for another DLC release. I'm over their shit and regret buying the season pass. Because of how fast this release was and Africa is only continent left to sell country packs to, I think this game is reaching the end of its life. HOI5 is going to be a shit show if they leave this team in place for it.

That said, I've just uninstalled HOI4. I'm giving up, the game doesn't play like it used to with all the DLCs. I simply don't have fun with the new content.

HOI4’s Graveyard of Empires released yesterday, and it’s just about the worst DLC for the game yet.

No signs of quality control to be found anywhere. The team behind this needs a sacking.
honestly, Hoi4 and the various total conversion mods are mostly good as a visual novels, actually trying to play the game has been a complicated mess for awhile now
Life By You would have been the Sims killer.
dont even get me started on that, it was absolutely pathetic to just outright cancel a game like that, why cant devs just like follow directions from lead devs and make a game I dont get it

It is amazing that everything is wrong in this screenshot. Not even an ounce of truth. He was neither Hellenic, nor Roman (ethnically) nor woman, nor Basilissa, nor woman, nor drunk, nor 19. Even his dynasty is wrong, and the name is wrong, but that is accaptable to an extent. Hate it.
It's just the title history of the Roman empire (filtered through the in-game Byzantines, which is why all the Roman rulers have basileus or basilissa before their name, especially since properly representing Roman imperial titles would be a headache in and of itself), which uses CK2's rather inaccurate and basic parameters for age and such. They never intended for the age, religion and ethnicity values for those characters to actually be accurate because they're all long dead, it's just a cute little historical detail that most of the houses and empires in-game have a sort of accurate history going back hundreds of years before the game starts. Where CK3's devs threw in their dumbassery was making him a woman (trans rights!!!) and giving him shit stats and traits for le meme.

its funny because in CK2 and CK3 Muhammad is shown as character in the title history of the Caliphates but its just a symbol with Calligraphy of his name, even funnier his religion is listed as Sunni which would piss off any Shia and it goes even farther back to his parents and other important figures in early Islam who are shown with character models lmao

I think some of his close relatives outside of Fatima also have the Sayyid trait which is funny because it really should only be passed down through her. CK3 getting rid of the Mirza trait was sad, although maybe it was because it wasn't accurate, not sure of the specifics of how Muslim titles work.

Should have added Sebastos and autokrator as well as they used them to refer to the old roman emperors.

Strategy genre has too many shills on YT. Paradox or any other strategy dev can drop the worst dlc ever and you will find like a dozen content makers shilling it. Even if they say something bad about it its halfhearted and not make a big deal out of it. Paradox always releases broken stuff right? Who cares!
I am also tired of ytbers preceding any critique by saying that they love the devs, game, community, their mom, dad, money they make shilling and that they don't want anyone to interpret their video as attack on any of those things. I understand they want to cover their ass but it's so fucking annoying to hear especially when they don't even absolutely trash the game/dlc but give you neutral point of view.

A system where you can adjust who is assigned what titles and even invent new ones (with some of the suggestions being accurate to your culture and year) would be great in general. It would have no gameplay purpose but that kind of autism is why most of us play CK.

What's hilarious about this particular release is Reddit is actually 100% behind it being a piece of shit - just like the South America slop - and yet nothing will change. Hourly posts about new game breaking bugs and how half the DLC is nonsensical (eg: a focus giving independence requires independence already), but come another 6 months and they'll do the same thing and eat it up.

Remember, it took from 08 March 2024 to 05 March 2025 for this "B Team" to make a half-baked tree for four countries which are busted and do nothing, and it took from 11 October 2023 to 15 November 2024 to make some UI changes and buttons and relatively decent focus trees for a similar number of countries by the "A Team".

I have no clue what these people are doing. I know people in IT who work for major banks and investment firms that will develop in-house programs for specific projects in 3-6 months, several times a year, and that includes the entire process of development, testing, release, priority support, migrating old data, etc. How fucking hard is it to make a few .png files and copy paste half the focus trees already developed and change some words in a few lines? They must be sitting on their asses until the 11th hour, shitting it together, and releasing it!

Seems like a natural progression honestly. Paradox went from releasing half-finished games to making half-finished DLC that they believe will sell no matter what.

HoI4 has the same problem that EU4 has where there's just nowhere to go currently but they keep having to milk it. The result is that all its DLCs are the most low effort slop imaginable. CK3 is equally slop but at least in all the main expansions the developers have to make actual 3D assets and even occasionally care enough to make substantial new mechanics. HoI4 DLC is just making a new focus tree, inserting several PNGs, and watching as players soypog over le heckin epic alternate history political ERP that plays itself.

The entire development model for every one of their games is utterly scuffed; it's endless pointless % modifiers and mission trees for EU, ceaseless focus trees and memepaths for HOI, endless resource/rework bloat for Stellaris, Vicky3 is marxoid agitporop but at least it has actual pops I guess? Still going the same way with journal entries standing in for tradition trees/actual player agency.
They never actually make anything better they just tack on more pointless shit that's invariably broken, and you know it's lazy ass indian-tier copy paste because when you actually look into the spaghetti folder structure you still find oldass files from 10 fucking years ago being frankensteined with. Thank god for total conversion mods because otherwise I wouldn't even bother pirating any of them anymore.
Never thought I'd miss the innovation of policy sliders/province decisions but here we are.

I dislike the last version of ck2, i prefer the simple, less event based, less rp based ck2 before they changed the education and ambition system. It has been 5 years since i played it. Now i am playing it and having a blast. even the lates version with all expensions (and horrible mechanical decisions in my opinion) i really prefer it over the satan made ck3.

You prefer the pre Conclave CK2?
