What Is This About?

I have a Hoi4 mod I am working called The New Order: Rises Again (TNORA). It is a fork of another mod that has a long and storied development that is too long and complicated to explain quickly. In any case, Farouk's Wild Ride was a storyline that was never implemented. It was a hilarious meme back in the day, and I don't feel I can do it justice by myself. Hence this contest. I hope to congregate all the submissions into the mod and hopefully create a hilarious series of events.

I dont usually like OPB, but he has been on point with his latest CK3 vids.

And yeah, I agree. If EU5 is the next Vic3, Pdx will officially be in freefall, and no one will be able to hide it. I think the Nov release date is a bit concerning in that regard. Remember, Tinto gave us the Leviathan expansion. They are very familliar with fucking things up.

Johan said earlier this year that they have 20 full-time QA testers at Tinto, and have been also using the content creators for feedback, so this should remedy all the worst stuff and help make the product better on launch. Although some of that paradox jank should be expected.

CK3's QA lead is a fucking jeet. When the software smells like spoiled korma and cow dung you know poo-covered hands were involved at some step of the process. Paradox used to be a logo I'd see on a game and think, "hey that's probably my cup of tea." Now the logo is a fecal fingerprint that promises mediocre gameplay and zero polish.

EU5 is going to make or break Paradox.

No chance EU5 is good enough. I know all the big EU4 guys are saying it's fine, but they're gonna say that. They are buddy buddy with Paradox and their channels depend on EU5 being good. Even then, their praise damningly faint. Look at the studio's recent track record and tell me EU5 is going to have a smooth release with a straight face.

It is going to be like the Civ7 release-lite in terms of game quality, except the backlash will be worse because Paradox customers are ten times more rabid and autistic than Civ players.

We don't have to wait long until the quality of the game is revealed. I think it will be fine, even good on release, but the ability to maintain that is what concerns me. CK3, too, was good on release, and now it is shaping up to be an unmitigated disaster with the ill-advised AUH Chyna expansion.

If Eu5 flops I'm legitimately concerned Johan will kill himself. IR failure took the wind out of him. This is supposed to be his magnum opus, the culmination of 30 years of his lifes work making these games. I honestly don't think it will though. CK3's problem is its 10 miles wide and 10 inches deep. EU5 if anything will have content/system/mechanic overload, but there is enough there for a playerbase to latch onto, even if not the casual/meme audience of CK3. Vic3 sucked because Wiz was a stubborn buffoon that made warfare hardcoded to be unfun and to this day refuses to admit his baby has to go in its entirety.

Not just that but it will be the one to either save or confirm the death of the historical strategy game genre. Firaxis made Civ 7 sucked, Relic's Age of Empires 4 was weighed down with disappointing dlcs, and creative assembly screw the poach with Total War Pharaoh. Everything is on whether EU5 can save the day or not.
