What are your expectations for the EU5 release?

Considering that EU5's systems seem to be quite universal in terms of their scope (As in, in the sense of moddability, you can't make CK2 a Cold War simulator for example), can we expect to see Bronze Age, Roman, and Cold War to modern era mods?
Probably, might have to connect with my old modding pals and see what they are planning since I have been out of the game for a while. I think modern era might be pushing it as a few billion pops might be beyond most processors, and simulating rapid air transport could prove untenable.

Wait until the game is out before making your plans. There were 20 different mods announced for Vic3 when it was first announced and I don't believe a single one has released.

Besides it being only state people, it’s still wrong because most of the Deep South was blanketed in classic Neolithic chiefdoms. Hierarchical societies. Would be rendered as states elsewhere in the world. They collapsed like Cahokia did; the melange that formed from it became the Muskogee/Creek. Knights of Spain, Warriors of the Sun is a good book on De Soto’s South.

I will start killing Swedes if tribes aren’t playable.
The emptiness of the Americas probably means that they'll add in more Americas content as 1 or even 2 to 3 overpriced DLCs. This is Paradox, they gotta get their ducats like the crypto-Jews they are.

Like I said before, it's filled with Society of Pops states which are currently unplayable, but the devs said that they might become playable in a future update. Holy orders were another building based country type that has been removed from the game launch as the devs said that they couldn't get them implemented in a good way on time and said that they will be added back in a free update alongside the Iberia DLC next year.

So although the Americas will be limited in where you can play, it will be filled with these AI countries (but 90% of the native population get annihilated by disease after Europeans come over).

Believe me, I had to restrain myself from scheming too much on an idea I had as I realized that I both don't know if it is possible and how to best utilize the mechanics and code until I have it in my hands.

I can at least understand the cautious optimism. Unlike HOI4 and Vicky 3, this one hasn't set off any major red flags thus far. Which is good because I can't stand nu-Stellaris, and EU4 is bloated beyond belief at this point.

This one has had over 1.5 years of dev diaries covering the map, all mechanics, and flavor, with Johan wanting for this to allow for feedback to be acquired before launch. This can be seen in the multiple feedback dev diaries as well as many Tinto Maps feedback threads.

So yeah, it's way easier to be optimistic for it.

Was just about to post it, this is the most extreme flag autism ever seen in a paradox game. "Our flag researcher is an expert in the field of academic heraldry who has been working with Paradox for several years now. They are a trained historian with a master’s degree in medieval heraldry and protoheraldry, and with that incredible background they have been able to provide EU5 with a scientific approach to the research of flags and coats-of-arms to a level that few people in the world could."

Here's not even half of all the flags present in the post

We are also getting a Tinto Flavor on Austria this week, and another on Poland before release. From the gameplay video from Zlewikk it was shown that there are unique situations covering the struggles between the Polish crown and nobility (szlachta), and that it makes the estate loyalty drop hard.

What country will you guys play first on launch? Mine's Poland since it's my country. Then I'll probably try out Byzantium.

Walachia and then Byzantium, after that either Japan or Spain

Maybe the Knights of Rhodes, try to go for sea dominance, take bits of Anatolia, colonize the new world, that sort of thing. After that, probably a BBC or a pirate Naval Based Country, if there are any in-game in 1337.

Probably Portugal, small enough to be manageable but still capable of engaging the major systems (exploration, colonization, trade empire etc). Would normally go England first, but not sure I want to jump into a major country that has a lot of shit to do while also not having a fucking clue how to play.

Also, am I the only one surprised footage of the game is still embargoed given YTers have had access for ages, and we're less than a month out from launch?

My goto to explore EU in the past has been England, so them first. Then probably ERE next to make Anatolia Greek and Orthodox again.
