What are your expectations for the EU5 release?

Sure, but like I said it can be built on; just make the idea of a cultural homeland or the like modular. Yeah, the Turks have a cultural homeland in Anatolia now, if they get Constantinople that can extend into Thrace - or if they lose Anatolia, get pushed back into its highlands.
I'd do something like two levels, the core core, where they are actually from, then areas where they live in large numbers. Expanding the second level would be easier, but the first would be practically impossible beyond some special events, like with the Rise of the Turks, Jurchen invasion, and maybe European colonization?

If I were to rebalance the way integration and coring works in EU5, I would do the following:
They need to make some kind of tier system for vassals which effect how much money and troops they give their overlord and also have it effect diplo options available
For example the lowest tier of vassal would be unable to call into wars until you reform them. This could be a good way to nerf countries like France at the start

Saw that meiou and a bronze age mod were released for EU5 in case anyone wants to try em and report back. I jumped into meiou for a few minutes but i honestly didn't see much diference.

I only played the meiou mod for a minute but the only noticeable difference that I spotted was that the economy was very different, with production buildings making less than a tenth of what they usually would and upgrading RGOs replaced with more buildings.

New Stellaris nonesense. They really are incapable of good design.

Yeah, this shit sucks and does basically nothing to address the fundamental problem that the AI is not fun to ally with and trying to do so is worse than wrangling cats. The AI sucks and the only fun way to deal with them is to annihilate them so you don't have to put up with their random garbage behavior. Like oh yeah these galactic paladins are cool and all, but I only get 1 until I get really far into the progression when I can actually force the AI to do what I want (i.e., anything that resembles strategic sense). Yeah man, sounds super fun.
I also don't like how there isn't a way to seize power during/after the crisis. Like it should be a path were you hold onto emergency power because the others in the Galaxy didn't take the crisis as seriously as you and you only see yourself as the legitimate caretaker. I get that's not what they're going for, and Overlord is supposed to be the answer to that, but it still feels weak. I think it would be cool if the paladins were more like galactic popes and declaring one is like saying they're the leader against the crisis, but other civs could declare an anti-pope so you could get a little civil-war in the middle of the crisis. You'd have to have it end pretty quickly if the crisis gets too out of hand but I think that would be cool.
This whole expansion is going to be lame.

Two questions about hearts of iron
Do I need any of the DLC to make the game good and what are some good beginner shit to watch? I also dont want to see any videos that are like 3 hours long about it.

Is every Paradox games at its vanilla state any good for me to pirate or are there any other grand strategy games to play?

Seems like every game is in a shitty state with overpriced DLC and buggy coding that would make Bethesda impressed (even more so with the every increasing relliance with mods).

Just pirate the games they've stopped supporting like CK2.

No. Paradox is pioneering new and exciting ways to release broken games so they can sell you the fixes. For some games they'll straight up change core game mechanics to the point that they're unrecognizable. One of their games (CK II Maybe?) had so many DLC that they announced a monthly subscription service where you could rent them. If you're pirating them it doesn't matter, you get the DLC for nothing. My favorites are Crusader Kings II and Victoria II
other grand strategy games to play
Looking at the games I have on steam tagged as GSG I'm not seeing much. Grand Tactician: Civil War and Rise of The White Sun are on there. Both of those are good. Limited settings though.

I was wondering why this thread had the hoi4 drama when there's already a dedicated hoi4 tranny mod drama thread.

Related to hoi4, I found this thread while searching for reasons the AI practically never builds tanks (in other words, why is the AI retarded).

In summary of the dev responce, the AI is purposely handicapped because the majority of the playerbase plays on easy difficulty.

Obviously the AI isn't perfect, but it is competent enough tactically to challenge the player. For example, it tries to avoid encirclement, uses naval invasions, utilizes CAS, evacuates ports, etc.

However, the devs have decided the only way to make the game fun (?) is to make the AI "believable". Which translates to "the AI doesn't utilize most of the powerful tools in the game". All their division templates and tank/plane designs are hardlocked to "historical" configurations, which are intentionally shit. To compound issues, the AI hardly produces anything other than inf. eq. since they have mostly infantry divisons. Generally, the AI economy management is bad.

That being said, do they have any incentive to fix it? Not really, the untermensch will revolt and flood the forums/review bomb. Can you imagine the seethe if AI paratrooper drops were enabled? Retards playing minor nations instantly get the stat screen popup.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting to design your game around people who don't want to learn how to play it.

ah well I'll just fake it till I make it then
You can mostly fuck around in the game as a major nation, I would recommend looking up division templates though. You can copy them without needing to understand the stat autism right away.

There's also shorter combat tutorials on youtube, along with paradox's long tutorials. Not sure if they're all good, only watched the bittersteel one

Imperator: Rome is actually in a pretty good state. The Invictus mod is like a community-run update team and they do good work.

As for other grand strategy, I've tried to get into Terra Invicta, but the performance is a problem, and the spaceship build options need to be massively streamlined/cut. Otherwise it's a really interesting concept, and I think has a promising future.

CK2 is fun as an RPG, not so much as grand strategy. If you're an experienced player, short of really bad luck ending your run 5 minutes into the game, it's pretty much a sandbox to do whatever you want. EUIV was not in a good state last time I looked at it; not sure if they put it in a playable state when they stopped developing it. Vic 2 can be fun but has fundamental flaws that will start to annoy you over time. Stellaris is...OK if you treat it as an RPG, but has a lot of problems, and I don't have much faith in the direction it's going. HOIIV could never get into.

Of those, I would say CK2, Vic2, and Stellaris can all be fun if you find the settings interesting.
