Personally I've just been grabbing mercenaries with auras and buffs I want (determination, endurance charges, vitality, etc etc). I don't care for its damage since I deal enough myself. It rarely dies now in t16s / t16 memory maps, granted it is a slammer mercenary so maybe that's why 🤔

I've seen people in the SSF global chat talking about the Kineticist mercenary being really good (someone said it's basically immortal lol, but I have yet to try it out myself so can't say that for sure) as well as being able to give you Haste aura, which could be really nice.

Your mercs stop dying from mapping onwards, it's actually been ridiculous. It seems like they somehow ignore res shit or have some hidden damage reduction mod somewhere. Thanks to this -lightning resistance mirrored rings from reflected mists went up in price; they'd just put the Doryani's Prototype on a merc and it can somehow tank Shaper beams.

Kineticists can give you Haste, the warcry that gives you mana regen, and Elemental Weakness. They can also do your mapping for you provided they have KB of Clustering or Kinetic Blast (they're that stupid good). I'm running a Striker with Determination and Vitality equipped with the unique axe that gives Flammability on hit instead because I have not found a maps-level Kineticist with the right auras and my Archmage Ignite can clear very well already.

Also, GGG has stated that the shit servers was caused by DDOS attacks. There was a schizo in my global which spinned a long yarn about it being a conspiracy to hide their shit infrastructure provider. I don't doubt the shit infra provider but I really doubt they'd straight up lie to us when they've shown in the past that they always come clean.

GGG buffed Scorching Ray and even changed the quality to improve fire exposure at max stages by -5% fire resistance and they still have not fixed how modifiers to exposure effect from the tree and Elementalist ascendancy don't apply to Spell Totem Scorching Ray. I'm actually pissed. If it worked properly, I could save the helmet slot for an Eye of Malice with +2 levels for Golems and have three sockets previously for curses free since I can just move them to a merc and still reach negative res on monsters with 75% res. Now I have to worry about having both +1 AoE gems and the focus trigger craft/unveil on a rare helmet since I need these curses to boss.

Before you check, proxies like totems are affected by offensive "You" effects which include exposure effect shit. I have tested this out with Frost Bomb totems and Wave of Conviction totems: they fucking work, Scorching Ray does not. And as I've said previously, I am playing Archmage Ignite, most of my flat damage is lightning so Wave of Conviction, totem or otherwise, is out of the question.

This has been reported in Bug Reports a year ago. Fix your game, GGG.

holy shit I'm addicted, this is my first time actually playing the game (played before but got stuck at the first kitava fight and quit) and my days have been basically work + poe for the past week.
I love learning all the different mechanics and the character building/crafting.

Damn do I suck though, I'm playing blight of contagion and I can barely do tier 11s at level 87 and investing about 1 and a half divines.

you guys got any advice for money making for a nooooob?

ooh, to be young again. still remember my first time in PoE, time spent on it grew exponentially after the first couple of weeks.

I'm also a noob (just 4k hours) (unironically) and, for what I understand of the game, unless you know all the ins and outs, or know someone who does and he agrees to share a strat with you, the only way is sheer luck with drops, which you can somewhat force with hours upon hours of gaming.

That person isn't me, as the only way I ever managed to make bank was by asking for help to a friend and he told me the then-working best way of making 20-25d per hour. Still poor.

have fun though! if you're in league I've seen many reports of people getting lucky with Mercenaries' equip and beating them for a Mageblood

Glad to hear you're enjoying it, it's probably my favorite game ever (contesting with OSRS). Reaching red maps your first real playthrough is pretty impressive, so good job on that!
Can't really help you that much on the moneymaking part (SSF btw...), but Legion is always pretty lucrative for me currency-wise, but don't only take my word for it, I'd look up if anyone has an actual strat / guide for it. If you do reach far enough into the game to complete tier 16s and beyond, Abyss farming is pretty damn profitable.
I've done it in SSF and it drops tons of currency and scarabs and the best part is that you self-sustain everything, but you need a decent build for it. I'm doing it with Forbidden Rite of Soul Sacrifice Occultist (Poison version, not crit), very nice build.

Good luck! :)

Figure out the mechanics your build can do well and then figure out which one you enjoy or don't mind. I'd rather be lobotomized than run Heist or Sanctum.

Never played Chaos DoT before so I'm not sure about this but if you're an Occultist with the explode node, you want something with a lot of mob density like Expedition, Breach, or Harvest. I don't think any DoT or Ignite prolif build should do Legion until they get into insta-melting moderately juiced rares territory.

I'm gonna be straight with you, I've played mediocre to bad league-starters for two leagues in a row now (Glacial Hammer of Shattering Zerker in Settlers, Archmage Ignite Firestorm of Meteors Elementalist) but I've always managed to rush T16's and get my two voidstones regardless (you can just buy services for the last two, Exarch and Eater should be easy). Either you're dying too frequently and need to reassess your survivability on gear or your build badly needs something to scale. You're level 87 and struggling with T11's as Chaos DoT so I'm assuming it's a bit of Column A and Column B.

Before you hit the panic button, follow these steps:

1. Make sure your atlas tree setup for atlas points-rushing is set up right. Get all the Kirac wheels which increases chance to drop maps and increases their tier, use your Kirac missions to grab points and reroll his shop, grab shrines and Delve nodes (since there is a notable that buffs you up when you click the Sulphite ore deposits) for extra power, assess whether the More monster damage or More monster life keystones might help alleviate your mapping issues, and try again. Delve is also a safer than juiced maps place at pre-600 depths to get some experience and bubblegum currency if you have Sulphite.

2. If you failed, reassess whether your gear badly needs upgrades or not. If it does, figure out which tier of maps you can comfortably farm (and afford) with moderately juiced mechanics with scarabs and an atlas tree. And figure out whether you'll tolerate this farming enough to upgrade this character or do you just farm to buy twink levelling gear so you can reroll to a better build.

Good luck!

Man, I've blasted through acts with Hollow Palm many times before but twink levelling with Volcanic Fissure of Snaking is actually buttery smooth compared to Smite, holy. I'm planning on having an Accuracy-stacking Cobra Lash Jugg since I wanted a tankier mapper as my 2nd char.

TBH Blight of Contagion is just not a strong build atm. Chaos dot hasn't been in a very good place for the last couple years sadly. Not to say you shouldn't play it if you're enjoying it; just that it will have very hard ceilings on what it can do and how easily.

As for money making; Harvest is an easy low/zero investment strat. Doesn't require much thought (Crop Rotation is technically better than normal over a long period of time but not worth the effort IMO) and it's generally very easy to kill the mobs. Run in to map, go to garden, clear garden. You'll walk out with 10-30c (or more) of lifeforce that you can insta-sell on the exchange whenever you want. You can start throwing in scarabs over time to make it a bit more lucrative.

I'm pleased to say that I've gotten damage reduction stacking Champion Cyclone working. It's "slow" (~5m DPS with merc, so really ~3.5m accounting for party play's Unique health buffs) but I've managed T17s, and T16s full of juiced Harbinger content.

Harbinger is slow but it feels great leaving a map with a consistent 20 raw chaos, and on top of that the XP, all the exalts and annuls I could want, and jackpot finds like Fracturing shards.

you guys got any advice for money making for a nooooob?

I haven't played the new season to check, but last season, I used a Harvest Atlas setup for more relaxed moneymaking that I could do while wrapping up map completion. Yellow and red essence usually go for a decent rate for just about any currency you can need through Faustus. It's not FAST money making, but it'll help you build up chaos and divs. It doesn't require an expensive character to do. I usually roll a Lightning Arrow Deadeye (absurd budget build btw) to farm into a character more focused around bosses.

I'd also grab a Currency tab, if you haven't already or choose to put any money into the game. It frees up a lot of inventory management and it'll hold more currency than you'll likely pick up over several seasons.

Yes, harvest/delirium (for delirium orbs) is what I'm doing at the moment based on your guys' recommendation, it's better than whatever else because it doesn't require direct trading and I can just plug my loot into Faustus and profit.

I did indeed buy some stash tabs (game is unplayable without them imo) but I wish I bought more because I'm slowly running out of space, next sale then.

I would probably agree at this point. You can theoretically play without paid tabs but you have to know enough about the game to not hoard everything. There is a LOT of loot in the game that very quickly into a league becomes next to, or completely, worthless. If you've got the fragment/delve/essence etc tabs you can just pick stuff up anyway; if you don't you just clog up the limited space you have available super fast.

That being said, I think paying for the tabs is a fair deal. For a 'free to play' game that has thousands of hours of satisfying play in it, I think the tabs work out to be a good way of/amount of supporting the game even if that's all you ever buy.

I think if you consistently blast through acts in a day or two and get to endgame, you should at least have a currency tab, a fragment tab, at least one of the specialist mechanic tabs depending on what you usually farm (essence, delve, blight, etc.), and a quad tab.

If you're SSF, you're probably gonna need more mechanics tabs.

Been going well for me, Accuracy-stacking Cobra Lash is fun. I just need to invest more to get tankier (and for my Animated Guardian to stop dying in Delve). Don't think it's uber-ready yet but it can do T17's and pinnacles. My main problem is it can struggle with screen coverage against dense packs without Sniper's Mark against curse-immune shit but the DPS is pretty good especially with a Doryani's Prototype merc. And my current defensive setup is suppress-capped at the expense of not having that much max res and having too little max endurance charges for a Juggernaut.

Is it just me or is DS_Lily a troon?

At this point it's not just the hours; I know I've played too much PoE because I just freewheeled a theorycrafted build and it just worked: I finally got my 10 Fortification Celestial Brace gloves alongside the 20% increased glove effect runegraft and the build is even smoother and tankier: don't balk at 4k life when you're running 6 endurance charges, decent block chance, decent evasion, and 47 Fortification, and it's got enough attack speed to proc even the piddliest chances of positive effects: 8% Frenzy chance against Unique enemies is reliable when you're hitting them over 10 times a second.
