I'd just call it AI art. I remember 20 years ago when artfags were sperging out over digital art, crying that something made in Photoshop or whatever wasn't 'real art'. AI is just a tool, a great artist can make something amazing with crayons while a shitty artist will waste thousands of dollars of marble.
Art is too vague. Slop used to refer to the junk dumped into a pigs trough for them to eat

Art is just the expression of an idea through a medium, and the idea can be as simple as "I like the way this looks". The original Pathways game, with it's corporate memphis style and absence of any real gameplay, is still technically work of art. You may not like it, and you can absolutely debate on the quality of it as a work of art, but art is still art. Like how food is food, pig slop is food, so is a ribeye steak prepared by a master chef.

I've always believed that AI generated images aren't art because they aren't actually made by humans. Art is an inherently human thing. Unless AI actually manages to gain genuine sentience, it's pretty wrong to actually call it art in my opinion.

The person using an AI to make an image, clip, or song is taking the posistion of a director rather than illustrator or composer. Is someone like Martin Scorsese not an artist? After all, all he does is tell others what to do. A human is still involved in the creation of AI art, at least for now. Maybe soon it will become entirely automated as one AI comes up with the prompts to feed into another AI to generate, which is fed to a bot to post online. It's probably already happening.

The difference is that a director still makes an actual person/people do it. AI is not a conscious being. Therefore, I don't believe AI "art" to actually be art in any real sense. Feel free to disagree though.

I will, and I do. Art is subjective, after all.

Here's a thought experiment, let's compare our avatars. Yours is, presumably, an actual photograph. A snapshot taken in a split second with maybe a minute at most consideration for lighting and composition.Mine was an AI prompt, one that took several iterations before I got one to my liking, which I then altered in photoshop. Is the human element really the defining factor? Not intent, not effort? The camera did all the work rendering the image digitally, just like the AI I used.

Ehhh, the AI isn't actually coming up with the ideas though. The human is feeding it the prompts and telling it what to do. Now sure, there is AI Slop out there where the prompt is "Make me a nice picture" and the AI just does what it thinks a "nice picture" is. But stuff like the Amelia Skyboxx video is not that. Its very clear he wanted the AI to generate specific things that he then self edited after the fact to smooth over rough edges.

Its really no different then Walt Disney telling a dozen artists to "Make this for me, based on my specification." its just instead of human artists just doing what they are told, its an AI. Snow White wasn't hand drawn frame by frame by Walt. He paid a bunch of talentless hacks to trace over his designs and fill in the lines, and then replicate the frames to make the animation move. The designs and "prompts" were all Walt's. Which is why we call it "Walt Disney's Snow White" and not " Snow White, made by these one hundred idiots who traced lines and did what they were told."

Does anyone else find it quite ironic how all the right-wingers who complained about “purpled haired SJWs” are now jerking their cocks to a purple haired goth girl?

And now compare my Avatar, originally I used some Art of the character I had saved when I made my account. I wanted something more personal though, so I put my horrendous skills to use in MS Paint. Now I have something all my own that I can edit for whatever Holiday or occasion, and switch out whenever I feel like it.

Fedoras are a cool hat (not for everyone, admittedly), yet we all know what they're associated with in the last 20 years.

neuro sama achieved this by making her own art through code. it's actually really cool:
