After catching up with the show, I’m going to say it: I think this is probably one of the best DC media adjacent works put out thus far. The show manages to balance out James Gunn’s strange and goofy sense of comic book violence and humor with a decent plot line. Maybe I’m just a sucker for killers with imposter syndrome, though.

HBO has put out some good shows (one or two) with interesting writing recently, I’m cautiously optimistic for the remainder of the season. Seems like they wrapped up a main conflict pretty well with this weeks episode, not sure how they’re going to carry it home.

EDIT: soundtrack goes hard

"Fuck you, Barry."
I wonder if the Aquaman sequel will deal with this earth shattering development.

Recently saw the last two episodes. It's entertaining but never really coalesces into a cogent whole. It feels like James Gunn originally scripted out a mini-series sequel to Slither about a z-tier government group stopping an alien invasion and slapped Peacemaker on top of it once this series got greenlit. It makes me wonder how much of a useless idiot Starlord is going to be in GotG 3.

Made it 2 episodes in and had to quit after the prison scene. I just can't deal with the checkbox crew and the implication that despite there being aliens that will kill the planet the real enemy is racism.
It's not though, and you'd find that out if you watched the whole show.

Entertainment industry, NPCs and normies been squeamish as fuck at the idea that the "bad guys*" inadvertently do something like save the world or other good deeds from an even worse set of "bad guys."
*Exception being HALO but HALO players are illiterate and never read the manual or anything of the background material.

I liked enough aspects of it to offset the parts I didn’t like.
There are far, far worse things to watch, like ‘Real Housewives’ or ’Survivor’.

It's probably the worst of James Gunn's capeshit work so far. With that said, I didn't find it too awful in the moments they weren't trying to fill the aforementioned checklist. Vigilante was entertaining to me, although I can see people being annoyed, as he's Gunn's ultimate vision come true: joke joke joke quip quip quip non-stop.

Also, sperging incoming but I don't know if the blatant flanderization of Peacemaker worked or not:

If you go back and watch the Suicide Squad, him and Harcourt were different characters. The little we see, she was betting on Savant's death with everyone else, and now she's this lonely "badass" soldier type (yeah right lol) while Peacemaker, who survived a building crashing down on him, now can't even deal with a fall from a few floors and such without fucking everything up.

On the other side, a character this idiotic and expandable, makes sense that Amanda would keep him around as to frame him, as she tried to, as a nutjob (which he is, but not in the way she intended to frame him) acting on his own. Dunno, but it's weird to think about how those comical characters technically exist in the same universe as Ben Affleck's Batman lol.

Overall, mixed feelings on this show, as I wasn't expecting much anyway. Good soundtrack though.

I enjoyed this show more than I expected to given I don't do capeshit. The inevitable Hollywood politicization was bearable for most of the show, but the last epsiode overplayed its hand with nonsensical mutterings like "libertarian protofascism" (?!?!?!?)
