Lolcow Peter Guerin / Docforbin - Columbine Shooting and Daria Fanboy, Thinks Trolling is Worse than Actual Murder

yeah there's two takeaways from that volleyball letter:

1. peter really has a tremendous boner for high school girls' sports. field hockey and volleyball appear all over his creepy fanfic and other people on the internet seem to attest to these being pretty central focal points in his life

2. peter literally cannot do anything without mentioning bullying, how he was bullied, etc.

Yeah, it seems like he'd flip his shit whenever someone told him that "Garfield was dead", and of course, the principal would tell him to start ignoring it. If THAT'S what they said, I don't blame the school. If they told him to ignore people kicking his ass, that would be different. But it sounds like except for a few incidents, he's the one who started getting physical.

Seriously dude, they told you a freaking cartoon character was dead. People used to tease me because my dad's a funeral director, and I didn't flip out like that. And it was thirty fucking years ago. Get the fuck over it.

there were some people who thought I’d never amount to anything because of my mental conditions.
They were right.

I would like to think that for the most part I proved them wrong.
Writing notorious fanfiction is not an accomplishment. At least not a good one.

DocForbin said:
Besides, how do you really define “amounting to anything”, really?
Having a job and a life that isn't in your mom's house.

here is also a link to all of his posts on his local newspaper's website: http://poststar.com/users/profile/peter guerin/

peter loves writing letters to the editor too, here's links to a ton of them.

peter's been bitching about these 2 wal-marts and how they're sucking the life out of local small businesses for almost 2 decades. he worked at a print shop his parents ran and i really didn't think wal-mart posed any kind of threat to that line of work, but whatever.

i hit the paywall article limit but if someone wants to look for more letters there are plenty more in the post star archives.

Why the fuck does this autist shut-in give a shit about Saturday delivery? He's never had a job in his life!

Also, if you ever read letters to the editor, you should keep this in mind as the kind of person who writes these things:

Every single person who writes a letter to the editor is fucking retarded!

My dream is to one day find someone who DOESN'T look hideous in sped frames.

I've been yelling "GARFIELD IS DEAD" & throwing pennies at my monitor, but it just isn't the same. *sigh*

I don't think that's funny at all. I think that's horrible. I even tried imagining Peter as that kid & it still made me feel bad.

Though I'm not sure why that kid didn't just, you know. . .call for help or make a ruckus or something.

The way he writes the Garfield post, I want to believe he's being sarcastic there... but I might be expecting too much from the man who wrote "Triumph of the Retart."
I'd like to think he's just hamming it up & trying to. . .I dunno, rub it in my face or something? But maybe even that's giving him too much credit.

& the thing that really kills me about "Triumph of the Retart" is that I initially thought it was an intentional misspelling.

Attacking and tying up a kid goes beyond bullying and crosses into "battery" and possibly "unlawful restraint". That teacher should be fired and the students prosecuted as adults. Peter's still a sperg though, and Garfield is still dead (and not funny).

You wanna know why I love Daria? It's simple. It could have been a show just about an outsider snarking at the world and that would be it. It would have been like every other show targeted at the alternative crowd who believes they are above it all. And at first, that would be an apt description of Daria. At least for the first two seasons, which is usually referred to as Daria Triumphant because of how she could get her way with little to no effort.

The last three seasons are where the show really shines. While the Triumphant era is all about Daria being uncontested, these three seasons are about her growing up. Things just don't magically go her way and she has to deal with the consequences (like stealing her best friend's boyfriend). The show calls her out on how she acts and it has her dead to rights (like when the local Goth girl blows up at Daria, pretty much accusing her of being as bad as an Alpha Bitch). And ultimately, it questions whether Daria's social isolation is due to her intelligence or is it due to her own attitude/decisions. You can even question how much of an outsider Daria is because she is on friendly terms with some of Lawndale High's most popular students. It's about giving people the chance to prove themselves more than some label like nerd, cheerleader or QB.

As you can tell, these seasons are almost the polar opposite of the first two. The show matured and ultimately turned it's main character into someone more socially adjusted for the real world... or at least college. It's really what gives the show depth and allowed it to age as gracefully as it has. After spending two seasons going over the usual cliches of the show staring the social outsider, getting the alternative crowd on her side, Daria then decided to turn into one big deconstruction of such a show.

So, sometimes I wonder why Peter is so involved with this show? The themes post-Triumphant seem to run counter to everything he believes in. Daria and her sister are able to put aside their differences and form an actual bond in the last season, they let go off all those years of being nasty to each other. It shows Daria is part of the problem and holds her responsible, not the victim of an uncaring society and therefore free from any consequences. Not to mention, the popular kids are not evil baby-eaters who go out of their way to intentionally bully other students. I'd wager he's one of those folks who hold the early seasons in high regard because they are closer to his worldview. If anything, it should have grown off-putting to him since it would ultimately tell him to get over himself and grow up.

i think he's still into daria only because the fandom was/is probably one of the very few places, maybe the only place, where he thinks other people will accept him for who he is and overlook all his behavioral problems. it's not true, of course. people have been sick of his "i do what i want just like luann in the comics" attitude for years, but as i said before, i believe that most of those people do feel sorry for him on some level. nobody is going to step up and demand that he be banned because they all know he has nowhere else to go. peter will continue to do what he wants until the fandom dies or he does something that's completely unforgivable.

it's really too bad the message board archives are down so there's no way to look at most of the dumb shit he posted over the years.
