I noticed there was no official thread for Petscop, so I figured it was worth making one since it’s a fairly popular series.
For those of you who aren’t aware, Petscop is an ARG which is only viewable on YouTube; there’s either only one copy of this game in existence, or the game never existed in the first place. The series began on March 12, 2017 and is presumably still running to this day, although updates are a little more sporadic now.
It’s a playthrough of a bizarre unfinished game that has a cheery and innocent face, but upon entering a cheat code, exposes a much darker and more intricate side. Our narrator, Paul, initially recorded the videos for a friend, which is evident in his dialog towards the beginning of the series, but it becomes more oriented towards a large-scale audience later on.
Petscop is chock-full of unorthodox storytelling, symbolism, and is an extremely unique and well executed take on the “scary flea-market game” archetype. As you may have guessed, there are dark themes in this “game”, so if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing, I would pass up this series.
You can watch the first video here, or if you want, you can watch the full series in one video here. As of this thread being made, there are 13 total “episodes” of varying length, clocking in at a little over two hours of content total. It’s unknown when or if another part will be released.

Game Theory made a few videos about the series, but as you’d expect from GT, they kinda suck. There are lots of better and more comprehensive videos about Petscop on YouTube, if you’re interested in any theory videos. I'd recommend Pyrocynical's analysis on it. The Petscop subreddit is also a good place to find content.
Obviously, don't go poking around in these places until you've finished the series. Not only would you be spoiling it for yourself, but Petscop content makes little to no sense at all unless you know the context, so you'd just end up more confused.

Mods, feel free to move this into the multimedia subforum if you feel like this thread fits better there. I wasn’t sure whether it belonged here or there better.
