🐱 PewDiePie Implies Chris Hemsworth, Kumail Nanjiani Use Steroids

While several MCU actors are quite 'swole,' YouTube gaming streamer PewDiePie claims they are lying to people about how they got their bodies.

Stars like Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and more recently Kumail Nanjiani have been getting rave reviews for their muscular frames. However, YouTube game streamer PewDiePie recently made some comments that could draw controversy if only because he's claiming they didn't get their cut physiques the natural way.

Chris Hemsworth especially gets quite a bit of attention because of his rather "swole" build. He has posted quite a few videos over the years showing how he got the body so many of his fans see in his movies. However, more recently Nanjiani has drawn quite a bit of attention simply because the comedic actor didn't used to be known as having the kind of body builder-type look he boasts now. Now his fans can count PewDiePie among those who think the comedian some shortcuts to get as muscular as he is now.

In one of his most recent YouTube videos, the streamer was very direct in his allegations that Hemsworth and others are using steroids. Further, he blasted the MCU star for peddling workout regimens that can be very expensive for his fans to follow, while Hemsworth doesn't actually stick to those workouts himself.

PewDiePie called it "lame" that Hemsworth and others claim they attained their build one way when he believes they got them another way. He added that "we" know the reason that they were able to get their bodies to the "next level" while also saying that it wasn't just "putting in the work."

He then went on to take aim specifically at Kumail Nanjiani and noted that the Eternals actor seemed to get really big, really fast. He added that anyone who adds the kind of muscle mass Nanjiani did in just a year was a "dead giveaway." He said that everyone knows that it takes time and is a slow process to get that kind of muscle definition. At the same time, PewDiePie admitted he wasn't entirely sure who he was supposed to be mad at, considering that the actors were just giving people "what they wanted."

It's possible one reason that the YouTube streamer is so annoyed at the actors he believes are taking shortcuts is that it appears he works quite hard on his own body. He's claimed that cutting out alcohol and protein as well as working out on the regular is why he's been able to transform his body.

I've always heard that be significantly muscular or be significantly low fat is kinda a "choose one of the above" type thing if you're older than about 25 and have no source for dat dere creatine.
Minor powerlevel, but in my early 40s I did the Jim Wendler 531 program (specifically the Boring but Big 3 month challenge). I did 3 months on, one month of a lighter program, and them another 3 months. In that time my lifts went up by about 30%, and I put on 11kgs. It certainly wasn't a lean 11kgs, but it wasn't all fat either, I just looked like I'd been photocopied 10% larger.
There's no way I could have put on "lean" muscle at that age, and a few guys at the gym flat out told me that steroids would help. In the end it was painful to tie my shoes, so I stepped back from the big lifts and slimmed down a bit.
There's no way I can look at those actors and believe that they're natty... I have no doubt that they work out like a motherfucker, but there's a little special sauce in the mix.

I forget who but I recall at I least one of the capeshit guys was like "lol of course I'm juicing"
Maybe Jackman or somebody.
I feel so fucking bad for Jackman. Look at this shit.

If you know anything about muscle building you'll see that he's damn near starved and dehydrated as fuck. That looks absolutely miserable.

I've heard that the lean, taut look people go for in competitions is only maintainable for a few hours that you have to meticulously plan for.

Pretty much yeah. Consistent vascularity only happens at insanely low body fat percentages- bodybuilders will do shit like eat dry oatmeal to dehydrate themselves to get the "look." Otherwise you're limited to a short window of getting pumped- even steroids won't keep you looking that way consistently.

(Also, if you're using them to get huge, they will kill you.)

For 20 million a picture?

I'll do miserable. I'd do hungry and dehydrated no problem.

20 million will buy you an awful lot of burgers once your done suffering.

I think it was for the next film, but Jackman told the story about how you do the shirtless scenes. Drink nothing but a shit tonne of water for a few weeks. So you're constantly pissing. Then 24-48 hours before you shoot the scene, you stop drinking. Yet you still piss constantly and it dehydrates you so all the skin wraps around your muscles.

Chris Pratt told a story about being on liquid diets for a few weeks. So you're constantly on the verge of shitting your pants to get the look for men's fitness magazine.

A lot of people have no idea. Like how a bunch of young guys use Arnold at his peak as a goal when they first get serious about the gym and think that it is remotely achievable through just dieting and lifting.
"Bro he drank beer, milk, and made mad gains bro!"

I'd wager the vast majority of people have never considered it and just assumed everything presented at face value was true. "If I got paid to work out and eat right I'd look like that too."
As I understand it, pretty much all of the entertainment industry is a “worked shoot“ as they’d call it in wrestling.

Which is to say it’s so faked and gimmicked that even thhe parts they present as real are still gimmicked a bit because it’s practically a compulsion and they need to seem super-human. but no one can admit it to themselves, because the entire system is built on their own form of kayfabe.

Wait people are surprised? I thought the whole “pay 20 bucks for fitness tips is a scam lmao” meant people knew better.

Holy fuck the hole just keeps getting deeper

Henry Cavil basically said the same thing about that tub scene in the Witcher, where he had to drink nothing for like 48 hours. And he didn't even look that ripped in that scene IMO. (although IIRC he has talked about how growing up he was just naturally heavier where as Jackman was probably always naturally leaner)

It's pretty much impossible to get big and lean, especially in the timeframe these guys do it, without using some kind of secret sauce. Someone was talking about how elite body builders can only maintain "the look" for hours and it wasn't an exaggeration. I know dudes who are amateurs and they would literally gain 10-15 pounds within hours of a show ending.

I honestly wish they'd just be upfront about it. They still have to work out extremely hard to get the results they do, but they set up so many kids with unrealistic expectations by constantly saying their success is due to chicken, rice and broccoli.

Edit: Actually thinking about it, they go through this whole process for a few shirtless scenes. Aren't we at a point where CGI could take care of this if they just stayed in relatively decent shape to have a frame that works with the animators?

They also have plastic surgery like ab implants or precision liposuction to create their 8 packs

Funnily enough back in the 80's when all that bodybuilding was a big craze everyone would admit the quiet part out loud if you could get them someplace alone. One of the biggest shocks I had as a young man was hearing my dad admit he was juicing back then. if you were pumping iron to get big gains, you were roiding up as well.

I thought the same. Cavil looked big, but he didn't look lean or ripped in the Witcher compared to Superman.

I did once watch a breakdown of Cavil which suggested he was natural. It was a timeline of his career, his weight and his muscle mass. There were no massive jumps. The biggest difference between The Immortals and Superman was body fat, not muscle mass.

Affleck got jacked for Batman, but there's at least one shot that looks like his abs are CGI enhanced.

I don't care if these dudes do steroids to portray people who are mutants or who have literally been given super-steroids in their origin stories. I care when they lie about it and tell everyone that they ate a lot of chicken breast and egg whites and worked out a lot, leading some people to believe that they can look like that too without steroids. Especially when they're selling shit off of that lie.

Was it Derek from MorePlatesMoreDates? Cause I recall him saying something similar and I can believe it. He's never been big and ripped as far as I can tell. If anyone was "natural" (and I'd still guess he's enhancing with TRT at the very least) it would probably be him especially hearing the stories about how he was naturally a heavy kid growing up.
